Road running

Whats the best way to keep a dog from running the road? I drop him in the woods and if he strike a coon he is looking for a road, then he barks like he has something going but he is just running the road. He has never been droped on a hot coon from the road.

its important a dog goes the way you want find you a drain ditch
with a fence there and ever time he comes back threw the fence
let him have it,if he circle around bring back and send it again.sooner
or later the problem will fix it self.
