keeping coons
for u guys that show ure dogs cage coons where do you put them and what do you feed them?
thanks jd
You don't keep them. There are so many everywhere and people want you to kill them, trap them whatever. Trap one use it and then go turn it loose in your favorite hunting place or kill it. You don't want to worry about feeding and watering it.

I done keep them but a day. I keep them covered up with a wet towel in the shad and turn them lose without showing to the dogs give the Coon a ten minute head start then turn the pup out .don't want him to think you keep a Coon in your pocket they will come to expect it every time.Try to keep it just like a hunt and let him find the track naturally is not the fastest way to start a pup but better in the longing of things.jmo
I try not to keep one more than a day but have kept them for a week or so when I didn't have the time or conditions were too bad to turn it loose for a pup.
They will eat about anything, I feed the ones I keep a handful of dog food and a little water.
