Need some advice

I have a 2 yr old dog that will hunt good by himself. With company if another dog strikes first he will come back to me. If he strikes first it's not a problem for other dogs to go with him but he WILL NOT go with another dog. Other dogs can tree with him without a problem. Do you guys have any tips or tricks up your sleeve your willing to share ?

I have won quite a few hunts with one that was just like that. If you want your dog changed, then you may need a check-up. NOT your hound. I don't mean to sound critical, but a dog that can and WILL go by its self is a nice compliment. There are many and I mean MANY....me too junk that is out there winning the titles. Be proud of your hound and hunt the fire outta him. Sounds like he would do alot winning if he can tree coon.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but how do you win if your dog comes back to you if another dog strikes first?
If you're pleasure hunting, when he comes back I'd try walking in a little different direction then where the strike dog is opening. Maybe he will go. Worth a try, not sure it will work. He is still young and will most likely get over coming back. Just keep hunting him and good luck.

Back when we hunted with packs, you didn't see this very much, but when they started breeding for the loner types, this is a result. Think it also can be caused by turning one out, leaving a dog in the box or dumping it up the road. The dogs haven't got used to working together, seems to think it's not it's turn if another strikes first.
You could try keeping it with another dog, and let it get used to being around it for a while, it may get the pack instinct kicked back in. It would be backwards way on doing things, as we always started pups out in a pack, after they got going good, then hunting them by their selves, to build confidence in the individual dog.
