In my opinion walkers are the best. The most of them have great speed and are good tree dogs.The one we use also have the nose to go with everything else. Just my opinion. Mehunter .

thats what i use ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but i think its certain lines of each breed that excell and make consistant bear/cat hounds when talking pure breds. theres the wild card dog out of some sorry hounds that always keeps you guessing,and of course the mixes that excel on game bluetic walker is supposed to match well but there again the cross would have to be out two proven biggame lines before id put my time into it.once you find whats working stick with it and if your gonna breed do it with hounds that will improve even if your not the owner. lots of people breed to their own because of pride knowing full well theres better stud or female even hunting buddys. ive seen it alot . dont make excuses or lie to yourself and youll have great dogs eventually . thats my two cents worth.

Pick your color, then the strain, I run walkers, which seem to be a versitile dog, for cat and bear, plots here is big. Depends on the game your running. the limit of dogs you can run, like us 6. Can 6 dogs get a bear to climb, in that color?. The size, some like small dogs, some like big, mouths, and the other twenty things that satisfy you. Strain is the most important. If you choose walkers as an example, warm up to some big game hunters, which bred the old time strains. todays coon dogs, or pedigree, wont fit most big game hunters, that has been around a while; Its two different games.
