pine shavings

I either use pine shavings or wheat straw in dog boxes and use wheat straw to put down in the pen if it is muddy from rain and what not. I prefer the pine shavings in the box versus the straw, but either one is fine. Pine shavings you don't have to worry about the reacting to them like you do with cedar shavings.

i have used everything under the sun that we can get around here, i like good ol grass hay as good as anything i have used. straw is great but we had mite one time . not good. ceader is good but not all dogs do as good on it.. but pice or any wood wont help as much hold heat in.like hay or straw. imo

i second that on using grass hay straw harbors a lot of insects in the hollow stem also have seen it cause eye injury due to when flattened out there are many sharp ends. also cedar shavings contain cedar oil and can cause death to pups and severe skin blistering in older dogs i know you have been using it for years have heard this many times they take the oil out of some of it but if you get it without the oil takenout watch out for severe problems.
