-- Question? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=2893)
Question?
Could a hunter in a hunt be scratched for walking slow due to a medical problem? My buddies and I have different points of views. Myself I don,t think you could scratch someone for that.
Rule 11 says"Judge must maintain pace attainable by all members of cast".
The older, slower gentlemen made this sport for us to enjoy. As judge, I always let the slowest cast member lead the cast until we are getting close to the tree. If someone says we are going too slow, I tell them to shut the hell up or go to the truck.
Everyone has a right to enter these hunts. Show a little respect for those whose health is starting to fade. Get to know them. A lot of them know more about these dogs than you or I will ever know.
Plus, if you have a good dog, it isn't going to leave that tree in the extra few minutes it takes to get there.
No they can't be scratched for a slow pace if its a medical problem, but i think they could be scratched if they were walking slow trying to keep the cast from getten to a tree if their dog wasn't on it yet.
