female dogs

i have a blue female dog out of the jj dog. she went through her heat cycle. after that she seems to have turned it up about 10 notches. it seems as if over night she has went from being a desent dog to a real good dog. do they become better after a heat cycle or did she just happen to turn it up at that time? im still learning at this so what is yalls opinion on this? a female after her heat cycle... thanks for help or any good advice. gary woods

Boy, I'm glad that yours is doing better after her heat cycle. Mine went through her first one at 11 months of age and has went straight backwards ever since. She was a much better hound before her cycle than she is now. If she doesn't come out of her slump soon she will find a bullet or a new home.

David i hope things turn around for you. at 11 months sounds like you have got plenty of time with her. my female is 18 months..

To me it seemed like a maturity thing, my female went thru her first heat cycle at 13 mos. old, seemed to settle more and more consistency. All breeds seem to mature at different ages, but yes my female turned it up a notch a bit after her first heat.

I know some dogs start acting goofy when they start coming in then straighten out afterwards. Had a couple females I could tell when they were going to come in before they actually showed just by their actions.
