Randy,
I have only hunted with Red a couple times. Very nice hound. His owner does not do much competition hunting, or I'm sure more people would know this dog.

I will tell you this, I am the man who had a post on this board last week, who had my dog killed on the road. This left me with only a young female who is not started yet. I had put out some feelers looking for a nice young male, that would be ready to start or already started. I anticipated paying a hefty price if I found the right dog.
During the first couple days, I had several offers of free pups. This is a "hats off" to my fellow coonhunters, who try to help a man when he is down. I did not take anyone up on these offers, as I wanted a dog to hunt now. I had several prospects lined up, whith some mileage required to go look at these dogs.
I was then contacted by my good friend Larry Wilcox, who told me to get ahold of Charles Nicely. Larry had told Charles about me loosing my dog. Charles had told Larry he had a young dog he would part with.
I called Charles and talked with him. We went to the woods last night, and he showed me this 1 year old Male out of Black Face Red. This dog struck 1st and was split treed, showing the meat, about 3/4 mile away. This dog was awsome for a 1 year old. Charles told me that he was only letting it go, because he knew my situation and also knew that I would put this dog in the timber.
This dog will be hunted hard! Many people would put this male in the hunts now. I am waiting until he has a little more experience.

I don't know why you ask about Black Face Red, if you are thinking of breeding, or buying a pup from him. I don't have extensive knowledge of him, but he is a very good coondog, and I just had my 1st hunt with his offspring. Give Mr. Nicely a call, he can help you out.

By the way - by October, look for TIMBER RIDGE LITTLE JOE.

Chris

Thanks for the reply. I was asking cause a buddy of mine has a litter of pups out of Red. There about 8 or 9 weeks old now. I've got a female comming. We sent his female up and had her bred. Cause of the distance I haven't had the oppertunity to hunt with Red. But I have had some really good refferences from some good folks. They all say the same thing as you. I was just trying to see if anyone else has hunted with him. If you'd like to talk more drop me an email. jlandrl2@aol.com

Thanks, Randy
