Bashing

Ukc,

I think that anyone bashing, or accusing anyone of cheating at a hunt, that they were not in that specific cast, on the computer on a message board, should them self get barred in return. This would put a stop to people doing this. The sport of hunting in the hunts is to have fun and compete, not to get on your computer at home and bad mouth the people that have put the time into getting a dog ready for a hunt, or multiple hunts.

Welcome to this new thing called technology ...Where you can hide behind a puter and a screen name and say things you would not have the B//Ls to say it to someones face..I belong to about 4 or 5 different forums from boating to hunting and its all the same....Jealousy is a leading contributer to most of the negative stuff posted on these sights.... I'm impressed with the score myself and i only wish my little mutt would come up with half that score..... No need to doubt it or complain unless you were on that cast is the way i feel also........

gentlemen i was coming on here to say the samething. i am sick and tired of hearing about how this guy cheated me or they minused me for this or that this dog is mean when all the time it is lack of knowledge or dog power or just plain old jealousy. i fnd most of the time when a person is acoussing someone of a mean dog there dog is.

NOT A PERFECT WORLD...

IF THEY WHERE ALL ON THE UP AND UP PEOPLE WOULDNT SAY ANYTHING.....SINCE THERE NOT AND THEY PAY THE SAME TO ENTER THE SAME HUNTS THEY SHOULD BE ALOUD TO VOICE THERE OPINIONS......WHEN THEY PUT A STOP TO THE CHEATING THE COMPLANTS WILL STOP BUT THEY WILL HAVE TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO DO IT AND IT WILL NEED TO HAVE A LONG TERM PUNISHMENT LIKE FOR LIFE.......SET A EXAMPLE....

You'll find some good ones no doubt. But if you think it is free of liars, cheats, thiefs, and scum bags.....you are in for a rude awakening.

Well said.

while i don't care for the bashing game, if all who did such were barred from hunting, the UKC would go out of business. It would be hard to make a living on one 4 dog cast at the Winter Classic.

i understand it is going to happen. but thiers a differance between talking smack and flat out lieing about a dog or handler. this is what i dont understand if you got beat then go home hone yours and your dogs skills. then come back and play again but dont go around and say how mean a dog is or how bad you got cheated. most hunters need to learn the rules good handlers beat you because you dont know the rules.

Mark, there's nothing you can do when three dogs keep covering each other and youre dog is all alone every cut and they keep out voting you on slick trees, circle trees, plus trees. Many coon have been invented when 3 dogs are on the same tree.

Please share with me Mark what can be done in this situation I am dying to know.

VERY UNTRUE STATEMENT....AND YOU DONT JUST HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT AS YOU SAY....THERE IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO STOP THE UNFAIRNESS.......

Posted by Mark Hale on 02-04-2010 02:03 PM:

that is simple really you can do it two ways. first one leave tracking coller on tree bring back master of hounds.that one only works if there not buddies. second is something ukc may not allow but should camera. when it happens then you are not lieing about it. i just dont think it is good sportsmanship to lie about hound or hunter.

Mark you can only do that in PKC not UKC.

So, I guess I am saying that I support their right to bash while exercising my right to ignore their comments.

I have been involved with coonhunting for about 40 years now and it never ceases to amaze me as to the amount of malicious gossip that is generated. Just this past November, here in Central New York two of our hounds were stolen, and had the batteries taken out of their Marshall collars, and then let loose to fend for themselves. It took us 19 days to get one of them back, found with their trackers on minus batteries. It was an agonizing, gut wrenching three weeks looking for, following leads, and getting these dogs back.

Then I hear through the grapevine that some scumbag spread the rumor that the reason the dogs were lost was because that I was so drunk on the night that we were hunting that I forgot to put the trackers on the dogs, and that the trackers were home on my kitchen table. I was kind of curious about that, because both dogs were found with tracking collars on, minus batteries, by local citizens. So did I go and catch the dogs and put the collars on them and then let them go again? Why do people start this kind of garbage?

I am for free speach and no body has to get on here and read. I do think that you should have to have your REAL name in your signature though. So you can't just hide behind a bush and scream crap to stir crap. Everyone gets scared at times but no body needs those kinds of cowards.

Is it really Bashing?????

Say a man draws a dog and said dog consistently takes second strike and third tree. Said dog can be hundreds of yards from cast and will come back to cover treed dogs. Lets say this dog is an open registered dog, then a few short months it is entered as open registered and scores 1800+ in a two hour hunt.

We could also throw in that the handler has a reputation as being on the "slick" side.

Is it really bashing if you've been to the woods with the hound and handler? Or is it being realistic?

Bashing if you wasn't in the cast your talking about. Read some of these posts. A lot of dogs turn around over night. I have had them do it my self. I had one nobody would had beleived even left my side if they hadn't seen it with there own eyes. If they hunted with me before he found a kitten on the ground.

You have to wonder how many coonhunters that are considering trying their hand at the game of nite hunt competion never try that first hunt because of all the crybaby crap they read on this board, the majority of it put on here by guys who aren't even out there hunting in the events and a few others who were born seeing the worst in everything. They come whineing on here always about how bad it is in the hunts useing the excuse that all that crying will make things better when in fact, they don't want it to get better, thet just live to whine.
I go to these events prolly 30 weekends a year and see first hand the 90% who have nothing but flatout fun, win or lose. And then you have that other 10% coming on this board and doing everything they possibly can to keep new guys from coming into the sport of nite hunting. And they are too stupid to be ashamed.

Posted by treberta on 02-04-2010 04:02 PM:

Jim, I thought we had already came to the conclusion that when it comes to coon hunting in Indiana everything is perfect or close to it.

Posted by on 02-04-2010 04:12 PM:

Very well put Jim. Unfortunately there are certain individual's that no matter what they post for the most part is 100% negativity.

It does get old & a bit on the troubling side. Gotta wonder what make'a some tick ? Like was said, jealousy & frustration seem to fit just rite in that equation.

I also am ashamed of the image that some feel the need to portray about "OUR" sport, hobby or pass time. However ya wanna look at it I guess. Pretty sad that some gotta be like that.

Posted by turman on 02-04-2010 04:14 PM:

Geezh, we must be the exception up here because I`m new to this and have only been on one bad cast. Nothing to do with me, another cast member decided he wanted to fight with the judge. Never seen a cast like that since, and I`ve made my rookie mistakes and take my minus and move on. Seen some great dog work and seen some bad dog work, met alot of good guys. I`m sure that if I got sent to the truck for making a stupid mistake I would be upset, but I`d be upset at myself not the guy who sent me to the truck. Never had a problem with people not seeing a coon, many times the coon is found by other cast members regardless whose dog treed it. I like to listen to a good dog work regardless of colour, if it`s better than mine than I raise the bar for what I want.

Trevor, instead of making snide remarks, you should stop and give some serious thought to the number of youmgsters and new coonhunters you have personelly turned away from the sport with the things you have posted on here. You made the statement that more than half the comp hunters out there are crooked cheats. If that was true, anyone would have to be retarded to get involved in this sport. Fortunately, what you said was a flat out boldface lie but how are the new guys suppose to know that.
