whats the world coming to, cant hunt on my own land?

had the sheriff called on me tonight from a guy that lives on some land couple sections over, my dogs weren't even close to his land, he told them i was spot lighting lol, then after that he started shooting, turns out the officer in my county in southern oklahoma that showed up his cousin is the president of the coonhunters ass. here in wilson okla. lol, hes drove down to me twice before, the last time i did have a talk with him and told him i was sorry if the dogs woke him up(his grand kids he said ), anyway sounds like im gonna have more trouble with this a$$hole, what do yaw think?

man i hate to hear that i had something happen to me and friend one night hunting on govenment land we had a russellville cop drive in to us while we were coming out of the woods he said a woman called us for our dogs being treed she said the dogs kept her awake now her house was about 600 yards from where our dogs were treed the cop told me i had to catch the dogs and i inform him that we had 2 options and that was swim it was 30 degree weather or wait til morning well he said we need toi call for them and i informed him again that wasnt going to happen cause our dogs wouldnt come in off the tree i guess he saw we wasnt bulging so he left some people are so dumb when it comes to hounds i guess they think they are like normal dogs i got one thing to say to this cop is heres your sign

im wide awake thinkin bout that, this makes the 3rd run in with this guy sorta the first time he just drove down in the field, second time i talked to him and last nite i wasnt near his property, the thing is if my dogs ever do go up on his, i bet they will have copper and lead poisoning or worse turns out the county officer may buy one of my horses lol anyway, i guess ill roll with the punches see what happens i really dont have alot of choice as far as where i can hunt

Maybe he is doing something illegal (i.e. a meth lab) and he doesn't want anyone near his lab or Marijuana patch. Happens a lot here in McCurtain Co.

hunting problems

several years ago a friend and I were hunting and we were walking back from the last tree. We were in a county road and about a half a mile from the truck. We pasted a house and the occupant started shooting a gun in an attempt to scare us. I was carrying a large caliber pistol which I fired once into the air. Doors started slamming and lights went out real quick. Guess that fellow realized he didn't have the only gun ever sold. I owned the land where my truck was parked.

Here in NC we have an anti-harassment law.
Basically it reads, If someone try's to prevent you from lawful harvest of a game animal they are breaking the law and can be arrested.
Our law covers any kind of harassment including but not limited to, shooting near your land for the sole purpose of scaring game (hard one to prove), blocking road access, damaging feeders and many other methods but, the end result is the same, if they get caught they get what they deserve!

I am not sure about your state but, ya may wanna look into that. We pay the game wardens salary's so might as well get um up outta bed and get something done about it.

It is getting worse ever year im afraid we wont be able to free cast our dogs before long. I've lived in my area all my life and I cant even hunt around here any more. Deer hunting is causing lots of problems here everybody thinks you will spook the deer and they will leave.

Here in Ohio a guy shot another man's hound and the shooter ended up paying $3000 in damages even though dogs were on his property, you just can't shoot someones dog and get away with it if they are threatening you. Funny how a man will own a patch and think he runs the entire section, then the law will back them most of the time. Good Luck bud, hope it all works out.

A lot of states have hunter harassment laws. I'd see what you could find and use that. If you can prove you're on your land, and he's shooting at you. Especially if its across a road, that would be another angle to take at him, since he won't come out to talk.
