Question about Lights.....
I've often wondered how light makers distinguish themselves from every other light out there....
What makes you decide to buy one light package over the other.... Please be SPECIFIC.

I base my purchase on my needs. For example I need a light weight and prefer cordless light. Secondly I think about customer service. When something happens to my light how does the supplier respond, what is the turn around time.. Thirdly is price. I want value for my dollar!
Thats why I use CRYSTAL Lights. Ken has been a friend for 20+ years. He treats me right with service and his products fit my physical needs. They are priced right and give good value for money spent.

I bought the G2 head I have now strictly because of the good reviews the K-Light gets for customer service and how they warranty their products.
The last light we purchased before this one was a Valley Creek belt light and Blazer Pro Head for my papaw. We bought it because it was on sale and for 219.99$ it was hard to pass up, especially since the head alone was selling for 200$ at the time.

It really makes no difference to me. They are all the same if ya ask me. Whatever one I win at a hunt or get in some deal is what I use....i do have a G2 head I like and Mr.Kelly is a good guy that will fix anything he builds

When I was looking around for a light, I kept hearing about how good the customer service was with K-light. While I was looking into them and other lights, I kept hearing that the same guy has built the battery packs for other lights as well. So, I took a gamble with them and have been pleased since. Customer service is great along with the warranty. Would purchase again.
i think you get what you pay for..i want someone i can drive to,, talk face to face .that helps customer service..i have bought light by ups but in reality its a gamble imo

Laser Torch Pro. Bobby Barber is one of the pioneers of the light industry. Best light I've ever used in 45 years of hunting, period. This will be the best $260 you ever spent on coon hunting. You have 30 days money back guarantee and 2 years bumper to bumper. If you don't like in 30 days send it back and get your money back. You won't send it back I bet on that.
Between, my dad, my brother and myself. We have a 21V Valley Creek Belt light, a 21V Bright Eyes Belt Light, a 21V River Kennel Box light, and a East Fork Widow Maker Cap Light. All the 21 volt lights that we have are about the same, plenty bright enough, good battery life, and not to heavy, and the East Fork Cap Light, is plenty bright enough, light weight, and has a good battery life as well, but it is just used for back up, or when I don't feel like wearing a belt light. Never had any problems with any of them, and all can easily find a coon (If they are in the tree LOL). Lights now a days are pretty nice and priced accordingly, but the next light I buy will be the Crystal CS-6. Super Bright, very light weight, great battery life, great service, and very affordable at around $125.

The Crystal CS-6 is a good light, has a tight spot that will reach a ways ! The halo makes a good walking light, no matter where the switch is set. Now it does take getting used too if you have packed a D cell Bandit boxlight for years, as it is lightweight . I had found Ken's site while trying to fix a friend's original Crystal beltlight, he gave me the info to get it repowered and wired right. After fixing it and testing to be sure I had it right, I decided to try the new one and love it . I can burn it about 2 weeks before it starts going down, with the car charger if you're not sure how much charge is left, just plug it in for a couple hours it will give at least 5 hours burning time.

Star hunting lights is all I ever used. Started with the 12v box light had a a problem with the switch and I sent it back I had it back with in three days. Now I have both of his caplights and love both of them. Very bright and comfortable. Never had one problem with them. But I would have to say brightness and customer service are very important in my book.
Thanks for the responses guys....
I really wasn't looking for what brand of light do you buy, more along the lines of what FEATURES are important to you when shopping for a light....
I think we can all agree on:
1. Price
2. Service after the sale
What else am I missing?

Well for the most part even features are the same. 21v is 21v no matter how you slice it. Heads may differ and looks but they are basically all the same.
To me it is warranty and service. A long warranty lets me know the builder is confident in his products and work. Also knowing my name as I walk in the door and chewing the fat while watching a light being built. Is something these guys on the internet cannot duplicate.
My brighteyes is less than 2. Been back 2 times. Now they fixed it but didn't do as they claimed last time. I shouldn't have to remind a man. I'll never own another even though its a great light.

I think people rave to much about lights. lol I had an eagle 2+2 and it was a dependable bright light but it was big and bulky/heavy.
Now I have a western rivers 21 volt and its an okay light. Bought the G2 head and sent it back two days later.
LED lights are completly worthless for shinning a huge tree if a coon is at the top. I don't care what anyone says I have seen over 4 led heads and my spot on my 21 volt will burn a hole through any of them. that white beam doesn NOT show any facors when it comes to color of fur. The coons fur will be the same colr as the bark on the tree when shinning.
LED lights are good for 2 things battery life and no bulbs. Anything beyond that they are worthless.
I think just about any 17-28 volt belt light will get the job done. The only thing I have seen in alot of 5100 heads is blown bulbs. However it is usually the owners fault for not warming up the bulb before turnning it to high.
Quality if it is not build to last to start with why would you buy it.
Features if it does not have a good swicth (one I like) or have a pop cover or a Cats eye what good would it be. Other Features you may want spot light or spot light jack, walk light, belt, box, and ect..
Now that I have Quality and the Features next is Warranty and who is behind it.
Now most light builders will let you use the light for 30 days if you don't like it send it back put it to the test in the 1st 30days.

I'm glad someone else noticed the same thing i been noticing with LED lights. Thats what I use and you are right. THey are bright and shine a long way but the colors dont show right. THe coon fur and the tree bark look nearly exactly the same. The regular lights show the coon fur.

i dont like the leds either. to hard to spot a coon like the other guys said. i have owned a lot of lights, a couple bright eyes and ill never own another. i had the 28 volt belt and box light. they are ok if you like carrying a pocket full of extra bulbs. i switched to a blazer tiny 21 and ill never buy a different brand of light. ive hunted it 6 months now and never blown a bulb. its priced well and has a 3 year warranty. cant beat it. dependability is numer 1 handsdown.

Do me a favor try to shie a big leafy tree with a led head under a full moon. LEDs are utterly worthless in a full moon because the beam counter reacts with the white color of the moon.
