334 views and 46 votes. Participation on this POLL is just about as good as a local UKC hunt.

Brandon, that is an excellent idea. Make a poll on that and I will vote on your poll.

The point to this poll is to find out what some really think the numbers are. Point is this competition out there gives us our titles, with really no matter how much competition is out there. From what is shown in UKC publications. The numbers are small on the Local level. So, when it is known that based on the numbers from the latest UKC publication on hunt results are run and it shows the numbers nationally that there is less than a 9 dog turn out at a Local level UKC hunt, then your POLL idea becomes an excellent idea on "how to get the numbers up". If your looking for less competition to earn a title on your dog now is the time to do it. Less competition should mean easier and faster earned titles. That's not necessarily the best way to look at it, but thats the way it figures out. I have friends that won't hunt on the local level because of there is not enough competition. You can see where Nitech dogs are picking up wins in a Local hunt regularly hunting against 2 to 4 dogs total. Personally that devalues the GRNTCH title to me.

Problem is a NTCH win is a NTCH win weather it be in a 4 dog hunt or a 100 dog hunt,if some of us only hunted our dogs in big hunts it take 5 years to title a dog cause of how far the big hunts are!

Local Club

I rarely go to a local club hunt that does not have 3 registered casts and two nitech casts.

Overall I agree with Chris. The numbers in some areas seem to be down. It kind of makes it hard for me to consider a stud that can't make grandnitech. Especially if most people consider it too easy to get that title. Interesting posts on here.

Can't and choose not too as you know are 2 different things. We all have our own way to consider how and what we are breeding. First thing I consider is what the pups are doing and go from there with various other things I look for. This is with Studs and potential females. Honestly for me breeding titles to titles means nothing. It certainly looks good on paper and adds to the selling appeal.

What clubs do you normally go to?

Lance, I had just about forgotten how I enjoyed our discussions.

Jesse have you talked with your local clubs to see about hosting larger events. Your right a win is a win.

Clubs

Our home Club is the lawley club. We make leeds and chelsea sometimes. We hit as many of our BBOA zone hunts. We always try to make Bluetick Days and Autumn Oaks. We missed winter classic this year. The world hunt interferes with football. I have two more years of football.

We are trying to get a BBOA zone hunt around here close. For years they have been several hours away in the same areas. That's usually why you see all the same names showing up year after year. Hopefully this year some of the hounds I have been involved with will be able to make the bigger hunts. I am going to be pushing them to do so. Work usually interferes with my personal attendance to most events.

Bluetick Days

Maybe you can make nationals. You know I love to debate sometimes. We could talk hounds. You were saying that Toby had something of yours on his bottom side. He just sired his first litter. I will post litters pedigree on my thread this weekend. The two bottom sides have allot of old utchman blood in them. Tim knew most of the old dogs.

Tryed everything I can, only got 1 rqe in the state, when I go to hunts I always try to drag as many people as I can and if there's a hunt in the state and I don't have a dog to hunt I usually find 1 to hunt at my expense just to help numbers, titles mean nothing to me I just really enjoy hunting other areas with other dogs!

Local club at Casey, IL had a UKC hunt last night. This was a Friday night hunt with a late entry deadline. I thought it had a very good turn out. 29 total in the hunt, 3 on the bench. 19 registered and 10 Nitech. Temp in the low 30's and frost, harvest season still in. Side note: I was told it took over 900 plus to win Nitech last night. Lots of coons treed here last night.

I don't understand why someone who had a dog a public stud chooses not to grand night. Especially if they make him a nite champion.

Chris I hear ya on breeding for titles. But didn't have a post looking to lease specifically grand nite females

There is to many hunts instead of letting clubs hold 7 cut it back to 4 maybe with less hunts more people will come to them

Yes, I did. And like I stated over a year ago on this post, "looks good on paper" and adds to the selling appeal". Knowing a dog makes GrntCh by poorly attend hunts does devalue the title "to me". Wasn't trying to say titles mean nothing. As far as why some don't go on and Grand a stud I don't know. I'm sure there a different reasons for different folks. I have hunted with a few GrntCh Studs, and based on there title and hunting with them , I would not be interested in them. However, I have seen that they are reproducing very well, and this is what interests me if I am looking for a successful litter. Reproducing females also interest me(with or without titles).I'm primarily a pleasure hunter that happens to be interested in helping to produce nice litters of pups on occasion. Do I want to see them titled, heck yes. Why, because that's how many recognize it as a success. Rance, I hear you got some nice females. Give me a call sometime, would be interested in talking with you. Take care.

That makes since. I think in today's low hunt participation environment it's more of questioning what must be wrong with a dog that isn't a grand nite then it is confirmation that it is a coon dog if it does have that title

Something has got to be wanted to be saved to be saved. Just not enough hunters out there that it's a top priority. Or they think it will still be there when the stars align for them to be able to make it to the hunt. Well it might just not be there if folks don't start doing a better job of supporting the hunts

Thumbs up

Well said! Had 8 Saturday night at Monroe, Ok. 1 cast of open dogs and 1 cast nitech dogs. Idk why no more folks don't come out. Good food! Great fellowship! I just don't get it. People just might be getting burnt out??? Around here, you can make a hunt within 60 miles every weekend. Especially this time of year!
