concealed weapon permit question?

are you allowed to carry a handgun while coon hunting if you have a concealed weapon permit.

In Kentucky you can plus you can carry a gun while hunting anytime even if you dont have a concealed carry, as long as its not concealed.

They changed the law in Kansas this year, you can carry. Senate Bill 152.

You can in Louisiana, even on Federal land during "chase only" days (which are only a few). But, you can use a .22 handgun all the time. That's what I use - much easier to carry than rifle that gets hung up on the bushes and SO much easier to sight on the coon.

Bottom line is...it depends on the state. However, even when you can CARRY a handgun with CWP, doesn't mean you can use it for hunting if your state specifies caliber or seasons for taking game.

This post caught my eye and I wondered about the concealed carry law here in NC.

I emailed the Wildlife commission asking them what the rule is and I got the below response from someone in the "Division of Law Enforcement".

"You may carry a concealed weapon as long as you possess a valid concealed carry permit".

.... Good to know. I was never sure what the law was and always left mine in the truck. NOT ANYMORE.

depends on the state. can't in IL. we are the only state with no concealed carry whatsoever, but there is a lot of talk about the lawmakers trying to change that.

Scroll down to "General Hunting Regulations" and click "Indiana firearms regulations" .

As you can read right off the Indiana DNR's website, ccw permits allow you to carry your handgun during ANY hunting season including running season.
