HUNTS ON DECEMBER 25th??????

How can UKC approve a hunt on Christmas night? I think that's terrible

Posted by Hoosier Man1 on 12-09-2010 02:14 PM:

Nobody has an issue with this?

Posted by on 12-09-2010 03:00 PM:

I makes you wonder what the intentions are don't it?

Posted by Hoosier Man1 on 12-09-2010 03:01 PM:

Well it sounds like a perfect opportunity to get a cheap win.

Posted by kycooner1 on 12-09-2010 03:07 PM:

I don't see no problem at all on having a hunt on Christmas nite ,,people go to dinner, movies and nightclubs on Christmas ,what would be the difference in going to a competition hunt.

Now I would say attendance would be low if they held it on Christmas Eve.

I guarantee you attendance will be very low! Each club will be lucky to have a full cast. Also, it is Jesus Christs birthday. Pretty low if you ask me.

Posted by Virgil on 12-09-2010 03:38 PM:

Kind of makes sense if you ask me. Most people have a few days off work around Christmas. Also after spending the previous two or three days with all the family its nice to get out with a few buddies and tree a couple coon.

Do me a favor. Go to a hunt on Christmas night and report back to us all how many dogs showed up.

Theres that old christian spirit. Consider that there are people out there who have no family near or anyone to spend christmas with. Its a very lonely time for some and if they can spend the night in the woods with others enjoying their dogs and the company of other hunters. GOD BLESS THEM.

I SEE IT AS A GOOD CHANCE TO GET AWAY FROM THE WIFES GOODIE GOODIE S#%T DONT STINK FAMILY. BESIDES MOST PEOPLE ARE ALREADY DONE WITH DINNERS AND VISITS BY CHRISTMAS NIGHT AND READY TO DO SOMETHING LIKE BOWLING, MOVIES, NIGHT CLUBS AND COON CLUBS.

I've heard that the real birth day of Jesus would have been some time in late September or early October, no one really knows. Also, the keeping of the birth of Christ isn't Biblical so no sin would be committed attending a UKC coonhunt. If I didn't have family and friends to share the day with I can think of no finer folks to be with than my coon hunting buddies.

I've read enough of your college football posts to know that your guarantee's carry a bond rating right up there with tits on a boar.

If low attendance carried any real stigma with it, this sport would have folded long ago. Anymore Christmas day is a major shopping day.

Christmas isnt even in the BIble!! I have a pastor who makes a lot of sense. He loves to tell the congregation to get the log out of their own eye and not worry about the splinter in the brothers eye. I try to do that. Basically its none of my buisness.

The club that I belong to has had a hunt sanctioned by the "other" registery on Dec 25th for several years now. It is always well attended. Everyone shows up/off in their brand new "Christmas presents" with their brand new trackers or boots or dog boxes or dogs. There are usually a few out-of-towners who have been visiting family in town and want a "release". Most have been cooped up with family and in-laws for a couple of days and just want an excuse to be out in the woods. I guess that you have to be a coon hunter to understand.

Right here Greggy. Like a post above said anything to make a buck.

Hey Jim I have an argument for you. Lets see what that wise brain of yours can come up with against this statement. On average at a local hunt how many dogs attend? It ain't that hard to figure out just look in the hunt results. Sure ain't MANY! Do you honestly think that over one of the busiest times of the year a local hunt will have more then 3 or 4 dogs? You know who will show up? The ones that can't win any other night so they show up in hopes of getting a cheap win. I feel sorry for those that don't have loved ones to spen Christmas with.
