Here is what it is about. The state wants to eliminate feral pigs not domesticated swine.

Then why are they going to the farmers and arresting them?

feral pigs?

if there on a farm, how are they considered feral?
unless there not properly cared for and get out alot.i can see that as a problem.
no season/license needed on feral pigs.free pork!!supposed to be here in branch co.i've never seen them or any damage/signs of them.

Posted by Larry Atherton on 04-17-2012 05:39 PM:

Many of these guys are breeding old world, Eurasian, and/or Russians were selling their stock to hunting facilities.

They are not raiding farmers with domestic swine.

You always have to consider the source. In this case the News outlet "Natural News.com" They definatly spin it in a bias way. I am in no way trying to defend the DNR, but I think it is important to always look at something from different angles. Larry is corect the DNR are trying to stop the spread of Feral Pigs. There are getting to be some around here.

The dnr is Not going on domestic pork farms, the enforcement is taking place on shooting preserve ranches and the farmer breeders raising these russian breeds among some others. Rest assured bacon and ham production is not being impacted. LOL

I'd be in favor of banning any hog feral or non-domestic. We don't need that problem in our State on the outside of pens and I have no personal use for pen hunts. Just my opinion.

feral hogs are a major problem anywhere they are allowed to be. Extermination is the only answer to keeping the troubles they cause to a minimum.

UKC. probably registers quite a few dogs that wouldnt exist if there were no hogs to hunt.

Just for the fun of discussion....you think so? What I posted above is just my personal opinion and not that of my employer because I do not want to see a hog problem in this State like there is in so many others. But for discussion purposes, I'm not sure about the above quote. I'm guessing a high percentage of those dog are not UKC registered to begin with and the ones that are, would probably be seeing action on bears, cats or coons if there weren't any hogs.

I respect your opinion John. Just curious....

Todd i guess i dont really have an opinion on hogs because we dont have any, but huntin them with dogs sure looks like alot of fun, and they gotta be better eatin than a coon. My only issue is with a govt. agency deciding what someone can raise on their own property.

Just remember you dont like hogs. DEER hunters dont like coondogs.

i wouldnt want to get them started here in indiana either thats for sure, but im kinda like you John...i would be VERY concerned about the DNR overstepping their bounderies.

You don't want wild hogs. That's a fact! We are over run with em in lots of places. They move in. Other critters move out. You can't kill em all. Can't even kill enough to control them. You kill 10 and in a month 20 have moved back in. Folks claim they like to eat em. I do to if they are under 125lb. Over that. Might as well let the buzzards eat.I kill every one I come across and dont stop shooting till all the pigs are gone.. I've killed truck loads of the nasty critters. I wish we could poison them legally!!!

Don't know how it happened story is some got loose from a game ranch others say some yahoos brought some cute little ones from the south I really dont care how or why I just dont want them too get a foothold anywhere in our state. So go dnr JMHO

Posted by GA DAWG on 04-17-2012 11:14 PM:

These dog hog hunters will catch a bunch up off places. Get. 30 or so together. Feed em good and get em tamed down just a little.Take them up the rd and turn em all out where they were not any hogs. Killed 6 one day with a muzzle loader. Boars teeth were all cut out. Sow had no ears. Just stood there and let me kill em lol.

"sure isn't a very big one,i'm guessing its pretty young for its size".and left.
ok,where's the rest of litter or better yet the parents!!!
another guy has pic of 1 on game camera.
