Nc State Show/hunt

Anyone planning on going???

Posted by Pastor Mike on 08-28-2003 04:07 AM:

Maybe Friday Night

I'm going to try and be there on Friday evening to show, but it will be about a 3 hour trip for me, so I can't hunt since I have to work saturday morning. Leaving for Oaks in the morning.

I have decided to go and pick up a dog that weekend. Its the only chance I'll have for four weeks. So I will miss it. I would hunt Friday night but I have an 8 hour drive Saturday, and to hunt til 2, and drive home 2 hours then get up and go to GA would be stupid. Good luck Cynth!!!!! Giddyup uh oomboppa oomboppa mou mou go elvira! LOL.........TCB

I'm planning on huntin' both nights. I just hope the weather breaks and we get some cooler nights. Been huntin' every night this week, and it's too hot for me!

NC, Carthage; North Carolina CHA Hwy 24/27 & 15/501 east of Carthage at the Moore Co. Fairgrounds. Signs posted. NC State Championship. Contact David Gardin (704) 474-5948
Sep 5 BS 6:00 pm, $15 Purina NH 2hr 7:30 pm, $25
Sep 6 BS 1:00 pm, $15 Purina NH 2hr 7:30 pm, $25

And If Gardin is running the show,,,,,,,,MOH,,,,,,,,don't be offended by his tone of voice............He is very loud and VERY BOSSY! Thats his nature from what I can tell, seems like a nice guy,,,,,,drew out with him in Claxton and he called that JET DOG as loud as I ever heard a handler. One track, I bout messed in my pants cause before the Jet let it out he must have heard him breathe in cause he fired out "JETS STRUCK" and Jet howled and I was sitting on a stump and I bout had to change panties. It was a BEAR!!!! I mean IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII,,,**** what a call!....................TCB

I havent heard whose judging. I thought he would be a the Sectional last Sat, but he wasnt. He always judges the sectionals at Seagrove. It may be him. The good thing about knowing who the judge is, you know how he judges & waht he/she (Susan) looks for. So...if you've got it, you've got a chance, if not, you dont.

Posted by Town Creek Blue on 08-30-2003 04:53 AM:

Well, Cynth,,,,,,,,,,not talking bout your dogs but.............whatever that dude was looking for at Claxton back in February must have been his glasses. As I saw one "handler" win when there was no way she shoulda won and then when she should of won he gave it to a nasty looking handler,I mean dog! I bet you remember that too........TCB

Posted by Cynthia on 08-30-2003 10:32 AM:

well, it took a while, but I've come to the realization that "you win some, you lose some" and "you lose more than you win" and "its the judges opinion - like it or not". We've all been on the losing end of it at some time or another, when the crowd would shake their heads in disbelief, but you've got to realize that maybe the judge saw something up close that the crowd didnt.

As far as GA is concerned, I was happy to win the class - actually shocked! For the queen, it was mostly my fault. While they were taking a break between shows, I didnt take her away and let her rest or anything and she got restlesss and wouldnt do right. BUT - she has come a long way since then. Maybe she'll get'em next year!

Posted by Town Creek Blue on 08-30-2003 03:44 PM:

I hope soooooooooooo.....I think I'll show one this next time when I go. Maybe I'll get me a winner!!!!!TCB

Posted by Lee Criscoe on 09-03-2003 11:00 PM:

I'll be there both nights. Im hunting trouble sat and blaster fri . the weather lokks good gonna be cool maybe.

I'm going.

Just bought a dog that has 95 show points and a BOS w/comp. But I've only shown once, and that was in 1986!!! I'd sure like to get some pointers from the experts. Looks like we will have a few well known handlers there. Any chance you ladies will help a dumb Marine out?

Posted by Long Ears on 09-04-2003 01:30 AM:

State hunt

Cynthia, Marshal Pike is going to judge as far as I know.

Keith, bring the dog and Im sure someone will help you. just make sure she stands still on a table, you can work with that. ;-)

to all the rest of you, I will be hunting Patch both nights and showing him too I think, unless John gets there on Friday, then he can show the dog.

So look for the Live Oak crew.

She stands. Just easily distracted. If I use my hand to really press her chest towards her rear legs, she seems to stand really well. Not sure about setting up the rear legs.

Look forward to meeting you Long Ears. I'm just right down the road from you.

Yes, Dan we attract all kinds of people here in Gods country. Even from South Dakota from what I hear.

Keith, I will be happy to try to help you with setting the dog. Look for a red avalanche, but then most people you may ask will now who I am. ;-)
See you there.
