Cold Sweat Pup Coming Along

My pup was born 4/15/07 and as of last night has been in the woods 10 times. Of those ten hunts, three produced no tracks we could run. The other seven nights he treed coons on five of them with my older dog. On two of those nights he split treed and held. Two other hunts he went by himself and ended up treeing twice by himself. All hunts were on free running coons and I hunt NO feeder buckets. I am tickled with this pup.

Here's Frito treed last night. My female was split treed a short distance away. It was 14 degrees and a bright moonlit night. His coon was apparently afraid of heights.

Here's my other dog (Jasmine) treed nearby.

Here's Frito closeup on his tree.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

arudd, good luck with your pup. Mine started real easy. The only thing I did with him that is not shown in the pictures was encourage him to bark at a live coon. I did that only one time. Other than that I just let him go in the woods a few times with a trained dog and then switched to hunting him alone. He was not affected by going out alone. Happy hunting!

It would be good to get out again but it may be a little while for me. Last fall my doc said I need some minor surgery. I asked if I could put it off until it's too cold for coons to run. He hunted coons as a kid and understood my plight. Well it's cold now and my date is Friday. So I timed it pretty well. He said 3 weeks to recover and long walks are good for me, but no handling coondogs under the tree. Hmm, wonder if my wife will do it? NOT!

The satellite shows the snow depth in Fort Ransom matches your cold temps!

Less snow for me in Bismarck but a bit too much snow for coons to move at the cabin just above Bottineau to the north.

if you have a gyp you are wanting to breed you better consider sweat. he is producing the nateral born kind.
