Price on pick ups

All I can say is "WOW" It's been a long time since I priced trucks. I first started at looking at new ones but it didn't take long to realize in need to look at used trucks. Still they want a bundle for them even when they are high mileage. The last one I bought was a repo from the bank. Guess I will have to play the waiting game again.

Lee, does yours have the 5.4 Tritron engine ?
If so, any problems out of the Cam Phasers or Timing Gears ?
I am looking at 2 different F150's, was reading the reviews and seems like a lot of issues with those engines......
I have a 2002 Toyota Tundra with 244,000 on it.....it's a V8 but gets about 400 miles per tank of gas, really cheap. Has never failed me. I don't know whether to go with the Ford or try to put another 100,000 on this one......I think it will go at least that.
Thanks.......Tim

tim the fords definitely have some problems with blowing out spark plugs, timing chains, cam phasers. i worked on a pile of them when was wrenching full time. a lot of their problems was because of lack of maintence though. not changing oil and using correct oil and people dont change spark plugs like should. i pulled plugs out of countless fords with 100,000 plus miles that were original. not many maintain a vehicle like should be done.

ive went to toyotas on last 3 pickups and currently have 2 tacomas. these pickups have more parts made in usa than the "big 3" and are assembled here. very high quality. ive done every kind of mechanic work on every pickup and its disgusting what percentage of parts on ford, chevy, dodge, are made overseas in crap countries let alone assembled.

toyotas have problems to though. trucks the age of your tundra have serious frame problems especially in salt country. hows frame on your tundra? let me know how your search goes. later.

That's what I did found a '07 Silverado 2500 4x4 high miles but well maintained don't use oil & got everything I need regular cab w/ new tires, tool box, spring loaded hitch bought it well worth the money one of them deals that don't come along every day but I was at the right place at the right time, hang in there & one will roll your way.

I really really enjoy driving this 11 model Ford it is the most comfortable truck I have driven. I can drive 8 hours get out and function in a meeting with customers. Mine has the 3.5 Ecoboost and will probably be my last v6. It has all the power of a v8 but its still a v6 lol. I have gotten up to 24mpg but average 20 on the interstate and 17 around town. So far the only maintenance has been plugs, coil pack, rotors and brakes. I am due for shocks and will be buying KYB's made in Indiana soon.
I also keep a 97 model Chevy that has 240,000 with the 350 and it still runs like a top. Very little maintenance.

The Toyotas just don't appeal to me, they just aren't very comfortable although they are appealing and built tough. I fully understand the manufacturing end of mostly made in the states and agree that's a good thing. The only problem is the money goes back to Japan. At the same token the US companies should be able to operate the same way. Its a global economy these days.

Thanks for the info......
My Tundra has some rust underneath, but nothing major. The downside is that it is only 2 wheel drive. I don't drive my truck a lot anymore, really just to hunt out of it. I have a Company Car that is furnished thru my Employer, it is a Toyota Prius and this little car is AMAZING .......I actually would like to have one for my personal use.
We will see which direction I go.......Thanks

My daughter has the Prius I hate that thing lol but it seems to be very reliable and she likes it. I went to dig her out of our 12" snow yesterday and that thing isn't made for this kind of weather.

They don't do good in deeper snow, sit too low to ground. But if it's not deep snow and just nasty.....this thing will go like a 4-wheel drive. Gas mileage is SUPER GREAT......!!!
It has plenty of power, I have to watch myself in it all the time......LOL
Our Company is getting ready to get a Fleet of New Chevy City Express Vans, so sometime soon I will turn this Prius in and pick the Van up.

We travel a lot of miles on the Road for our Company, they needed something very good on fuel.......You won't find anything better on fuel or more dependable than a Toyota Prius........!!

I really would like to have one for our Personal Car, to take trips in, etc. there is actually quite a bit of room, ride good, pretty comfortable. My daughter loves riding in this one.

Got a '95 w/ a 305ci,239,700 mi. uses a quart of oil between changes still goin'.

Just hit 350000 miles on my f150 with a 4.6 engine. It's rusted out in the rockers and the box wheel wells. Your right about the prices. I'm retired out of ford's and they have me just about priced out of the market.

What I cant figure out. They can make a car like that. Why not make a little 2 seater 4x4 truck like that. They couldif they wanted to. I dont need much power but I need to crawl along some time to. I have 2 yotes but they could do better gas mileage wise if they would.

Windshield wipers. A/c. Rubber floor mats. Dont need a hitch. Dont like a lot of people so room enough for one more person an Im good. 10 grand should buy me that easy you'd think. Ive looked at them utv. Buy a great used truck for the price of one but I'll prolly own one some day

You can get cab kits and heater kits for them as far as A/C goes well do you know how to make an a/c out of an ice chest? put it in the bed and plumb it into the cab

Right now I have a 2005 Chevy with 208k on it. It's been a good truck but not much for gas mileage. But it's a 2500 with a 6.0. I've looked at all makes and models, 4x4 and 4x2. I just don't know what to do. They just don't want to budge on the price of those Toyota trucks. I'm really a Chevy guy but I'm not impressed with the looks. Ford definitely has my attention and even the dodges.
