bait for a live trap

Whats the best bait to put in a live trap. I put a can of tuna in one and was just wondering what works best for everybody.

A glazed doughnut. Pour some vanilla extract on it. Put one by the opening and one behind the trigger.

Tuna marshmallow works good to

.

Marshmallow hands down they love the color and u usually only catch coons

depends on the time of year. in the fall/winter I like some kind of fish (tuna/jack mackerel/ ect)...in the spring/early summer I like ear corn.

dry cat food also works well and so does dry dog food. ive even used grape jelly in a pinch.

coons realy aren't that picky on what they eat regardless of what may be heard.

Large marshmellows and pancake syrup from a squirt bottle

Peanut butter and tuna. If you wipe the peanut butter on the trigger panel the coon will always have to push on the panel. I always put the peanut butter on the end/top of the panel because if you put the peanut butter on the bottom of panel it won't get pushed down much and the trap will most likely not get sprung.

I mostly use sardines in soy bean oil. If I'm trying to catch a coon around a lot of possum or house cats I use soured corn.

Ive caught about 10 in 3 weeks here lately. On the simple ol honey bun.

Honey Bun has always been my favorite and I take the first bite before setting the trap. Easy to use with no mess. Found at every store on the way to the woods. Don't get any easier and they work!!

Marshmallows

I use marshmallows , the big ones..you can stick them to anything...Coon really has to work to get them out. I squish them through the bottom of the trap, nothing much messes with them other than coons.

i use vienna sausages. i get them 2 cans for a $1.00. That's cheaper than a honey bun. i put all but two into a bait can and press them down. i put one of the two at the entrance and the other one mid way to the trigger.

Ive got 12 now but I 've got a bait stealer. Put sardines in. Caught a dern possum. Im fix in to go and put a marshmallow in. Mash it in tight.
