Worms

Ivermec will kill most all worms what it dont kill panacure will. I use ivermec once a month for heartworm prevetion and all other worms. Its the active ingrideant in heartgaurd but lots cheaper than heartgaurd. Use 1/10 th of a ml per 10lbs of body weight. So a 50lb dog gets a half a ml. It should only take one dose for worms. The tree days is usually used for mange. Thanks Justin

Ivermec..

Does Not Get Them All.....

I haven't used a pesticide wormer in several years..

I guarantee my dogs are worm free and I wouldn't sell something that don't believe to be a great product. It Works !

any wormer with pyrantel pomate will take hooks, but you have to worm them 3 times to break their life cycle worm 2 weeks apart then one week on the last cycle ( worm, worm 2 weeks, worm 1 week)

safeguard wormer is the most cost effective and efficient way to do it without using a horse, cow, swine wormer. no offense to anyone that does. never had a coonhound that weighed 1000 lbs. i do have a fluffy one though.
safeguard is the way to go. jmo.

I have used Drontrol Plus for years with good results for controlling all worms except heartworms. I have used Ivemec for heartworm prevention, I have used it for several years and never had any trouble but I am going to have to rethink the Ivemec because one of my dogs tested positive for the heartworms today.

ivomec does not kill hooks. Iterseptor does, it kills everything including a heart worm prevent. about $6.00 a pill once a month. if you are using ivomec already, look at diatonatious earth, powder you can sprinkle on their dog food once a week that will kill all stomach parasites.

Did it test positive for adult worms or did the blood show filaria wiggling?

Mines liquid I give it to them like a shot in the neck...I know it also comes in a paste but not sure if ivormec plus comes in a paste or not! Shots easier IMO!

If pannacure is the yellow liguid you get from the vet and give 1 cc per 22 lbs for three days straight and then 10 days later do it again for three days , then that is a good wormer for hooks. I am looking at a tube of Safe Guard horse wormer right now. It is Fenbendazole. It is not panacur But I understand it is safe.

I give Ivermec for heartworm preventative at 1/2 cc per 50 lb dog once a month and it has worked for that. I have also had mange that the vet told me to give 1/2 cc to 30 lb pups everyday till it cleared up and the hair grew back.

In other words I know panacure ( if that is what is yellow) is good for hooks. I understand fenbendazole is good for a lot of worms and is safe. I understand Monthly Ivermec gets some stomack worms as well. Alot of people are scared of Ivermec for what ever reason they heard but I am not scared after having pups on it everyday for 40 days at a higher rate than the monthly preventative rate. Long story short, I understand these wormers will get all BUT TAPE Worms and you still need an Expeller that is no longer on the market for Tapes . That is all I know.

Ivermec brand name 1% sterile solution costs $46 for 50 ml (or cc) . Ivermectin, generic name, 1% solution costs $34 for the same 50 ml bottle.
I only need a needle to get it out of the bottle with because I take the needle off and squirt it in their mouth. Why would you give a shot to get gut worms when you can put it in the mouth?

Dang gum ! you on the cutting edge of technology. I got to ketch up.

Posted by skeets on 05-03-2012 08:36 AM:

lol lyle she brings home more than that for the dogs, i just didnt want to punch it all in lol. shes got a stack of frontline in younder, i doubt if my dogs will live long enough to get rid of all it lol. that yellow liquid your talking about is as good as anything ive used, i use to stop by the vet and he would sell it to me. ivermec want kill hookworms and i dont think it will kill tape worms but i could be wrong on that, but it will help shed the ticks and fleas on a dog. its hard to overdose a dog on ivermec is what iam told, i knew a guy that said he tried to over dose a cull of his and it didnt hurt him at all, he also told me he cured a dog with heart worms by useing ivermec, the dog lived to be 15 yeard old. my wife worms my dogs once a month, but i believe it might be better to have a few worms than to have all them chemicals in their system all their lifes, it seems to me like it would be hard on a dogs kindeys but i aint no vet.lol

Posted by l.lyle on 05-03-2012 09:04 AM:

I do understand your concern about residual chemicals. That's why I only worm every six months whether they need it or not. I heard that before about Ivermec and kidneys. Now , if I was a German beer liker Kidneys would be my concern too. Also heard it about Livers . > I am Scotts -Irish so Scotch can be made down hyar but it tis harder to do than beer and Irish wiskey is plumb easy to do compared to beer. It all depends if you value your kidneys more than your liver is all I recon , but you can go to the dead people swap shop and pick out either for just a little. That's a reason I don't do the shrooms and smokes (other than tobacco) Me and whats left of my old brain have a good time cutting fool with each other. I don't know the swapshop would suit me with finding a replacement.

Though that feller that can't understand me might think I ought to. LOL
