Yadkin River Champ

Just wondering if there is anybody out there that has had the privilege of hunting behind Yadkin River Champ, Crowder, Rattler or Jeff and would like to share a story of there experience. I didn’t have the honor in hunting behind some of these find hounds and I love to hear the stories. I have spent many nights listing to Yadkin River hounds in the timber along side my good friend Mr. Weller tell me stories and it would usually start out with “ you should have heard or seen there ancestors “ lol Dig out those old memory banks fellas and share some camp fire stories

You should try to get ahold of Jimmy Meeks . Jack Dobson or Pete Barber. I am sure one of these guys could help you out.

Thanks straightdrive but I know Mr. meeks , Mr. Barber and I know of Mr dobson. I just wanted to know if anybody else might have a good story they would like to share that have actually spent time in the woods behind one of these hounds. Doesn't matter good or bad, lol . Your not going to waver me one way or the other, I'm Yadkin River sold. Just think of this thread as if you were sitting in the barber shop waiting to get your gord cut and your shooting the bull.No intentions here, just would like to hear a good story.

Never hunted with any of them , but I had a female out of Champ and a female out of Pattisons Mahogany Tom that was as tough as they come.
Only fault I had with her was that she wouldn't cold-trail a bear.
She was a "finished coondog" by the time she was a year old.

crowder

I hunt with one of the guys who ran Crowder with Gordon Gilroy all the time. Seems we never go out when I don't hear a story about Crowder.

Used to hunt alot with a Grand Nite male out of him. To this day probably the best night after night coondog I've ever hunted with and I do not like walker dogs.

Should be a super track dog with lots of nose and heart, hunting ability go Deep enough. The Bellar Indiana Shep style plenty of nose smarts and know what to Do with it and guts to back it up. Remember the Shep and River Bend Flag in Champ was key to this cross! It is How Champ was produce thats why I am intersest in some Champ or Tar River background or River Bend Flag. I am hunting a semen pup of Bellar's Indiana Shep. He is less than two yeras old the best coon killer I ever seen, grabs them behind the front legs and crushes thier lungs and all most lings them apart. This Bellar's Indiana Shep smen pup is a number one coon dog. like to cross him with some Tar River, Yadkin River or River Bend Flag background blood.

Not exactly sure if you were asking this but I think you were asking how does Y.R. Champ connect to River Bend Flag and if not I appologize. On the bottom side Champs Mamma (Tar River Jill) Jill's mamma ( Tar River Mindy)Mindy's Daddy ( River Bend Flag) Champs Daddy (Yadkin River Jeff)
