Quote of The Decade
The Quote of the Decade
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”
-- Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006
Yeah he and his staff threw away Bushs shovel and brought in an track hoe.

Aw Shucks fellows. He was just trying to get elected and what with reading that teleprompter ......
A prime example of a politician saying one thing to get the weak minded to fall for it and do the opposite. Now we pay and pay and pay for years to come. If we last that long. Throw all the bumbs out and start over with someone that has our and the countrys best interest at heart. We have a start, it would be a wise choice to do what the hard working people want done for the sake of our grand kids and this United States of America.

My 2 cents
Maybe if the government was run by people that have actually had to work for a living we would be better off. Ridding our country of manufacturing jobs was the worst decision ever made. I dont claim affiliation with any of these idiots, I just want someone to run the country that gives a hoot about the lower and middle class. JMO

I had a couple of good friends stop by today, all three retired and they were concerned about getting there social security checks next month. I am about 30 years from retirement so I know it won't be there for me but they worked hard there entire lives paying into SS and now they have to worry if it will be there for them. The thing that urks me about the deal is while these fellas worked for what they've got and now they have to worry if it's gonna be there for them there are mile long lines of folks with food stamp cards in there hands that are able but un willing to work that will still be eating t-bones and filets and driveing Caddys on the backs of the hard working men and women of AMERICA. The system is broke in more ways then one!!

The reason they have to worry about it is because of the BS being fed to them and they eat it. Who said older is always wiser especially when they vote asking "what's in it for me". Yes the system is broke. Long years ago I put in six hours at a Tech School and then 8 hours for a landscaper and take my check and buy baloney. I was standing in the checkout line behind a HOT SWEET THING when she pulled out her ----Card to pay for steak and canned oysters. Till then, we were making eyes. I guess I could have followed sweet thing home and learned early on how the system works and in some ways it would have been as educational as a real education. But when you are educated in a certain way you continue to think in that certain way. You can never think outside the box even when you have to or need to, even if you don't want to. They think alike and vote alike as trained by guess who? UNCLE SAM.
I don't know that they voted " what's in it for me"
I don't fault them for expecting what they have worked30+ years for and then all the sudden it's not there The fault is that of the politicians that the welfare crowd has elected on the grounds of who is going to give them the most for nothing. I agree with you that we have some real winners in office right now that are sinking the ship but we have far more so called Americans that are sitting at home with there hand out sucking the life out of our country and the money out of our pockets.

Interesting thing with this debt ceiling deal is that if the Republicans cave on this we will be a lot closer to a balanced budget again. Boehner and his Tea Party friends are doing a lot of posturing about "balanced budget amendments" but it seems the only way they want to balance it is by taking folks retirement money [SSI] and retirement healthcare [Medicare/Medicaid] away from them. So Boehner wants to balance the budget on the backs of the working poor, and Obama wants to balance it on the backs of the wealth class. Only problem is even if you are one of those who think it best to make the poor balance the budget, they can't. They don't have enough money. How much more can you get out of someone that makes only 40,000 a year? The math does not add up.

GA DAWG and StaggCreek,
I guess you guys have pretty different views on lazy and unemployed. I realize that in the south you have an epidemic of laziness and unemployment and poverty. You must see so much of it that you become callous to it. Here in MN [we have been sort of known as a welfare state] we use much less govt aid than you do in your state. We must just use it more wisely, because the poor do come here looking for handouts, but we give them a handout and a work opportunity, and most people with any dignity [when the handout runs out] take the work opportunity.
Do people that live in areas of high poverty and high unemployment not have work opportunities? or do they not dignity?

They are just lazy bums for the most part. Anyhow. Unemployment maybe shouldn't be cut all out. Maybe let it pay 1 month while you look for a job. I despise hearing people say. No way Id work for that little. Well what the crap? Better than no work. As for welfare. I live out in the country. I know folks in food stamps and stuff . Some kin to me. They need a adz whipping and get a job. Don't think for a min I want tell em that. They can get work but why should they? They can live for almost free and bum around all day. I don't make tons of money. Maybe the gov should pay for my phone, food, rent and utilizes while I lay on my tail and get fat. This crap is wasteful. Could save us billions upon billions.
