Our 13 yr olds first year Bow Hunting. Big Buck

This is Logan's first year Bow Hunting. 3rd day he shot med. size doe.
But yesterday after school he was in his stand less then 15 minutes and had shot and killed this 11 pt. Big Buck. The Taxidermist said he was pushing 300 lbs.
I'm still in AWE.

Man! That is awesome!!!

This is my first year bow hunting as well....I hope I have the same skill he has!!!! (I won't call it luck with bow )

There was a monster buck taken in Parke County, IN this weekend. It was a non-typical buck. I have heard two scores. 191 and 220. I saw pictures it is gnarly!!!!

Nice!

Logan,
Nice Deer! I saw your name in the magazine w/ a win this summer, you're just cleaning up. Tell your Mom & Dad "Hi" for me. Wish I was back in Missouri, giving you a hard time at the hunts. Take care.

I noticed it wasn't gutted in the picture, did you take it to the taxidermist lke this.

It will probably field dress at 170#.

Still an awesome buck for a youngster.

way to go logan nice deer ive been deer hunting for 20 years and never got one that nice nice job young man and to the dad that got him started in it

Posted by TAZ on 11-03-2004 05:18 AM:

Thanks guys for all the replies. Logan enjoys reading. Guys have been stopping by all day wanting to see it. They heard about it from the check in station.
It wasn't field dressed because no one was with him when he got this buck. Will had just gotten home from town and went to check on him when Grandpa (my dad) was hauling it home in the bucket of the tractor. My husband field dressed it after I took the pictures. The taxidermist told them the horns should be scored because they would make it in some record book.

I saw on here someone wanted to hear hunting stories so I will include Logan's story of his hunt. Excuse my grammer. I sent this to all our relatives with pictures. Hope you all enjoy.

Logan's story of the Big Buck:

Logan went to his tree stand around 4:45. He placed "Tinks 69 doe in rut" on branch 10 yards away from his stand. He climbed in his stand and waited for about 10 minutes then started rattling his Primos rattle bag. In less then 30 seconds a Big Buck came into view 60 yards away. The Big Buck came closer looking for a fight and got within 10 yards of his stand. Logan said "his adrenaline pumping and shaking all over. He drew back his bow and let it fire - a perfect shot." The buck run less then 60 yards and fell dead. His hunt lasted less than 15 minutes. Logan was excited and in disbelief after reaching this Big Buck. He couldn't believe this was his first Buck. He was still shaking when he tried to load him on his 4 wheeler by himself. But this buck wouldn't budge. He waited a little longer thinking what to do. He didn't want to leave it for fear coyotes might eat on it while he went for help. His dad hadn't showed up to check on him so he drove his 4 wheeler to his grandpa's and told him the story of his Big Buck. Grandpa took the tractor with the bucket to field to get the Buck. Grandpa thought Logan might be exaggerating being only 13 but what a surprise Grandpa got when he seen the Big Buck. They brought it to the house where we took pictures of Logan & his Big Buck. Not sure how many points if some can count or not 11 for sure and 4 are to small to score 1". Will let you know later what it scores. We are having a shoulder mount done on this deer.

Be proud of that one. Any professional hunter would shoot that deer any day of any hunt. Id say he will score mid 140s. NICE BUCK.
