OT - Tires on your hunting truck

It won't be long, and I'll have to put new shoes on my truck. (2000 F-150 4x4)I'm leaning towards the Maxxis Buckshot Mudders. Anybody else run them? Good or bad? Any other suggestions? I'm wanting something pretty aggressive. Being's that I'm STLL laid up after surgey, I've been looking at a lot of different brands, some good looking tires at reasonable prices, but I'd like to get some first hand info. So if you don't mind, post what you run and if you like them or not. Especially wondering about the Maxxis Buckshot Mudders. Maybe even the Maxxis Bighorn. I hate to drop that cash out for something that won't last or gets hung on wet grass. More so now after this dang back operation.

i have an 02 chevy silverado and have 305 on it. they are the firestone destination m/t they are very very good on the road. have put almost 8,000 miles on them and still have the hairs on them. catch a grip in anything anywhere. don't make a lot of noise on the road. around 800 for a set of 305s very very well worth the money to me.

I run standard mud/snow street tires and get 40,000 plus miles. I do not like real agressive tires because they tear up the dirt paths. I beleive that you have no business driving anywhere that you NEED 4 wheel drive to go there. I drive a wet or slick path in 4 wheel drive so I don't tear the path up and so I can get out.

Ran the Maxxis Mudders once. Good tire for tough terrain, but excessive road noise on highway, and they will not last long on pavement. If your passion is off road, they will serve you well.

got a pair of mudders on my silverado and they definantly wont get you stuck but you know they are on there when your goin down the road..

I've been running Coopers the past couple of years. They are one of the few that are still made here in the USA.

I currently have on the Cooper ST. I have 25,000 miles on them and I should get about 35,000 before I have to replace them. They've served me quite well. If you want something more aggressive look at the Cooper STT.

I agree with Forrest. I also run the Cooper ST 285's on a 2000 Chevy 4x4 and am just now looking at replacing them with almost 80,000 miles on them! But I'm not on the highway a lot which will wear em out quicker. I use my 4 wheel a lot off road and have never gotten stuck. I get them rotated with EVERY oil change and I run them with only about 30LBS air, makes em wear more even. My cousin had the STT and got about 60,000 plus on them running lower pressure too. But he had the 305's. Seriously, we've done great with these. I just priced replacements for mine at $180 a piece, but they currently have blemished ones for about $150 if you don't care.

i have an 04 f250 with bf goorichs ta baja champion 285-75r16,with 45000 miles on them they look about half worn i rotate every 8000 miles ireally like them. they clean out really good and little to no road noise.

Yep dixietimber, mine were abused on the highway. I was doing alot of commuting the first year they were on the truck. I rotate them every 5,000 miles and they have worn super nice. I paid somewhere in the range of 150 each in the fall of 2008.

ps. mine are 265/70/16 on a Dodge Dakota. My buddy is running them on his Chevy 2500 farm truck and is real happy with them as well, and that truck takes a beating.

get you some Co-Op's.....best mud tire I ever had on a pick up. Don't plan on driving the vehicle long highway distances everyday as it will wear the front end out. Mine lasted twice as long as the buckshot's did. I didn't like the buckshot's, and I've had 3 or 4 sets of them. JMO

I run the big horn on my f250 it will go about anywere. When they get slick I will probally buy another set.

I have Maxxis Bighorns on my '98 z71. I do a LOT of highway driving for work, and they hold up pretty well. They'll get loud when they start to wear, but it isn't terrible if you keep them balanced and rotated. I like the way they look, and the price isn't bad either...doubt I'd put anything else on my truck. Not a bad looking rig for a gal, I don't think

i really like the super swamper tsl radials very aggrssive and made for the road also if you go to 4wd.com you will see that they are priced very reasonable. i don't think you can beat them

I had these installed on my Ford Ranger back in Sep. These Wrangler Authority tires are made specially for Walmart and from my understanding, Walmart is the only place they can be purchased at. They came out the first of last year.

Cooper stt Im extrmely impressed with em! Ive been on a mission to find the best on/off road driving and the stt is the best ive found! And they look aggresive to!

I run Firestone destination m/t's on my 06 Dodge and love em. Great in all condition's, even on the road. With regular rotation I usually get 30-35k out of a set, and I still have about 1/4" of tread left.

Also check out the General Grabber MT. I think both of the them are great tires and reasonably priced.

i have always had real good luck with the pro comp all terrains have them on three differnt vehicles now ride good on the road get real good traction and wear real good

Ive tried several brand of aggressive tires & am currently using HERCULEES TRAIL DIGGER MTS. I have found them to be as good or better than the higher end MT tires(BFG, GY, FIRESTONE, etc.) But avf about 100$ a tire cheaper than the rest of the competion. I live up north & need a tire that can handle mud in the spring but take some deep snow in the winter. This is a hard combo to find but the Herculees has done it.

Goodyear Wrangler MT

I have an 06 Dodge with the cummins so I have to run an agressive tire to keep from getting hung all the time. I have ran 3 sets of wrangler mt and love them. You wont find a tire that cleans out as good as these and I get 45000 miles on a set.

I have a set of goodyear wranglers M/t on my chevy and have gotten good wear and they clean out very good in the mud. BFG a/t and m/t are just hard to beat though. My brother runs Micky Thompsons on his Chevy and talk about going good but he makes alot more $$ than I do.

Has anyone tried or heard reports from the Nitto Terra Grappler's? That is good looking tire with a decent price.
