Open reg. 1 dog cast ??????

Can an open reg. one dog cast receive points towards nt ch. if it comes back in with plus points. I was told they had to be hunted against competition in order to receive nt. ch. points.

Thanks

thats a reason i have always thought points awarded toward a title should be based on how many hounds your huntimg against for instance in a registered caste you win over 8 dogs you get 10 points you win over 16 hounds you get 20 points.
i get a big laugh out of nite ch that never hunt against 2 or 3 caste on there way to nite ch when other dogs make it by hunting against triple the amount of casts

I'M NOT SURE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU WERE THE ONLY DOG ENTERED IN THE HUNT, TO START WITH.

WE WERENT ALLOWED TO BE THE ONLY DOG ENTERED AT A HUNT ONE TIME. THEY TOLD US IF ANOTHER DOG DIDNT ENTER WE COULDNT GO OUT BY OURSELVES. EVEN IF WE HAD A NON HUNTING JUDGE. LUCKILY ANOTHER GUY DID END UP SHOWING UP RIGHT AT THE DEADLINE AND ENTEREING, BUT THAT IS WHAT WE WERE TOLD. BUT THEY COULD HAVE BEEN WRONG TO START WITH.

IF YOU WERE JUST THE ONLY DOG LEFT IN THE CAST AND THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE CAST THEN IT WOULD STILL BE THE SAME OLD WHOEVER GETS HIGHEST SCORE GETS THE HIGHEST PLACES. AND YES YOU WOULD GET YOUR WIN AND YOUR POINTS IN THAT SITUATION.

I DO KNOW THAT AT A HUNT ONCE SID WAS THE ONLY NTCH DOG TO SIGN UP, AND ALSO WE HUNTED SID JR IN GRNTCH ONE TIME AND HE WAS THE ONLY DOG.

BUT I'M NOT SURE ABOUT REGISTERED DOGS.

I LOOKED IN THE RULES AND IT DOESNT SAY WHERE THERE HAS TO BE MORE THAN ONE DOG ENTERED FOR ANY DIVISION.

I DUNNO. THAT IS A GOOD QUESTION FOR UKC TO "FORMERLY" RULE ON. LOL.

WHICH IS WHY WE QUIT TRYING TO FINISH SID OUT.

HE HAD 13 NTCH CAST WINS, ONLY 3 WINS TOWARDS GRNTCH. ALL DUE TO HIGHER SCORING CASTS. THAT SUCKS!

I THINK UKC SHOULD MAKE IT IF YOU WIN YOUR CAST 5 TIMES IN NTCH, THAT COUNTS AS A NTCH WIN. EVEN IF YOU TECHNICALLY NEVER WON A NTCH WIN, YOU'D STILL FINISH YOUR DOG TO GRNTCH IN 25 CAST WINS. AND ANY DOG THAT CAN WIN 25 CAST WINS I THINK DESERVES THE GRNTCH TITLE.

I was told the same thing one night was told it could be one of my own but there had to be 2. I figured it was like the best of show with comp. I know you won't recieve no performance points for only 1 dog

You can hunt a dog in a 1 dog registered cast, you come in with plus you get a 1st place reg win. You can also hunt in a 1 dog nt ch cast too, with one dog cast you need a non-hunting judge though.

With just one dog in reg. or ntch you have no competition and you should not be awarded any points or ntch wins. What does that prove. At least with another dog you can say yours was better that night. People look for an easy way out to title their dogs. I am not saying it is fair but what if I happen to hit a hunt and needed a first and I was the only dog there and went out with a nonhunting judge, made one drop my dog went out and took two hours to tree one coon. It leaves one tree and time runs out and I have a score of 100+. My dog had no competition and did not prove itself. I think the hunt tests are a great idea for people to prove their dogs are what they say they are without having to hit the hunts every weekend or having another dog there to help.

I probably could have finished several dogs by now if this were the rule. I like it.

I think this subject has been beat to death before. I have always said that I would breed to a GRNITECH that earned all his wins on his own with no comp. just as quick as I would breed to a GRNITECH who did it with comp.

Comp. means nothing more than there were more than one dog in the woods that night. No comp. means that your dog can at least tree a coon on its own and isnt that what is really important to the future of the breed?
Coondogs... or... Me Too dogs?
Hunt by themselves and prove that they are coondogs.

oh really, so trying to get in the final four at a large hunt has nothing to do with your guide?

This is so confusing.
You guys and gals are on here one day saying they shouldn't be allowed a title till they earn a "hunt alone" HTX, many don't even think you should be allowed to enter a nite hunt till you earn the HTX, and then those same people come back and say it isn't really fair to win a title without competion. Which is it?
