Passing of Florida Coonhunter Ron Preist

It's with sad hearts that we announce the Passing of Florida Coonhunter Ron Priest. He was involed in an accident while working for Mayo Fertilizer on 8/7/2008 in Lake City, Florida. He was a member of the North Florida Coon Hunters and also the Florida State Coon Hunters Assioation, he also loved to hunt those Blue Dogs. Please keep Ron's Family in your Prayers.

Ron Priest, A Great Friend

.
Our thoughts and prayers for Ron's family from Leon Silcox & family

Ron'swife asked me to post the following information for his friends about the funeral arrangements:

Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 pm at Hiers Baxley Funeral Home, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, Florida

The Funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 am at Hawthorne First Baptist Church on Johnson Street in Hawthorne, Florida.

Also, as many of you know, Ron was running the Florida State Youth Auction on this board. After talking with his wife, she and I felt that Ron would want the auction to continue, to help the youth hunters of Florida. In honor of Ron, the auction will continue to run under his name. Please continue to use Ron's PM and the email link as you were before, to help make this youth hunt one of the best ever as a tribute to Ron's dedication to the youth. I will be reading the PMs and emails in order to post the bids.

Please remember Ron's family in your prayers!

This news is very hard to hear. I generaly talk with Ron once or twice a week. We have lost a fine gentleman. His strong family values and his great love of the Lord were always evident in his daily life. Ron never passed up a child in need. Ron was great company in the woods. I think what will stand out in my mind most is I never heard a negative remark come from him. He could find good in any situation. We have lost a fine man. Ron, you will be missed. My prayers are with your family.

I will make sure that Ron's family knows that there are many good people praying for them. Their faith in God is what will get them through this.

I have talked with Ron several times through pm's. He seemed very interested in providing for the youth.

Our prayers go out to his family.

What actually happened to him?

Leon

I was dumbfounded last night when I read about Ron. I did not know him personally but had spoken to him a few times last year when I was trying to get Ga's youth auction up and running. It was my first year working with the youth hunters and He was VERY, VERY helpful in getting us started. I know from the work we put in that his long hours of working for the kids has to come from the heart. It takes a special man to devote his time to others. Not only has the coonhunting community lost a great man, but the world as a whole has lost a man that made it a better place through his deeds and day to day devotion to his family and others. It hurts my heart to try to fathom what his family is going through. Nothing any of us can say will stop the pain. We can only take comfort in the knowledg that he his home with those that have gone before us and he is still doing God's work. Only difference is now we won't be able to see him, only feel his presence when he touches the lives of those he loved in this world. Please let his family know that my sincerest condolences and prayers are being sent. If you need any help with continuing the auction please call me.

Sam

Tyre and I were deeply hurt to hear of the passing of Ron. We had the pleasure to meet Ron a couple of years ago and kept in touch with him through this board. His devotion to the youth of our sport will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time.
