Lighted Collars

Just wondering who all uses them. I'm lookin into buying a couple and was wondering which brand worked best. Also lookin for a little feed back on if you do use a lighted collar, why do you like them; and if you don't, why do you choose not to. Thanks!!

I like them allot. Been using them for about 2 years now. Gives me a safe feeling, and might keep coyotes away too. I dont think anyone really makes a rugged one though, so none of them last long. I keep hearing bad feed back on all the brands, including the ones I have. I have bulbs that are dead and wont come on, etc. I think the safety outweights the bad points...just wish someone would make on that lasts.

I have a set of two Saturn lighted collars. I'd sell them both for 75$ Half of what I paid for them. When is orange and one is red. Both work I like the orange one better. They do work good I just don't use them anymore. Great for roads and yotes.

I have used them for over two years now and will not turn my dogs loose at night without them. I have used the Bright Eyes and the Magnum. I love being able to watch my dogs work and see who is doing what and going where they're suppose to be. I like the magnum lights best because the lED is sealed and will not break off. Bright Eyes LED have a tendency to break off but they will repair for $15 after the warranty. My was close enough to warranty that it was no charge. Blue is far and away the most visible with the white being a distant 2nd.

I have three saturns! Green, yellow and orange. On one of them the battery doesn't stay up as long as the other two but it will last a night. Other than that everything is ok. I like the yellow color the best. Had em several years now. I got them to help with yotes and I haven't had a dog attacked since. I also like being able to see where the dog is. I like the looks of the Bright Eyes collars and might get some if I ever wear these out. I don't like the ones that look like a headlight on the dog...what-ever the name of it is!

I have 5 lighted collars. They are the Magnum type. I have 1 red, 1 blues and 2 whites. I plan on getting more. They are awesome and so far the only problem I have is we keep loosing the rubber piece that holds the magnet in. Mine all are taped with the magnet in them... They work great for us. Not only coonhunting but bobcat hunting and at night when we are roading the dogs..

Very nice...

I build all of mine they cost a Max of $20 but that all depends on how fancy you want them.. We been using lighted collars for 4 years now First were bought Saturns but I ended up fixing them so often that I figured I could make my own better..

But I will be trading in most of my Tracking Collars in on Marshal Lighted Tracking Units.. Yea their costly @ $200 .. We have 1 now and have about 35 hours on it and seams to do the Job..

But those lighted Collars are great for Watch how your pups are working .. If I see them passing up logs and other hot spots I'l call them back and make them check it..

Awww Doogie you were hunting in the wrong spot... Where I am at there is no coon where the bobcats play You might find something bigger in a tree, but surely not a coon LOL

Majestic...

Thanks for the idea.. I am going to have to get one.

Now all I need is for someone to invent a tracking, shocking, and lighted collar all in one so I can stop breeding my dogs for longer necks.

Ladycathunter.....

I use the magnums also.....was having the same problem with loosing the rubber piece.....now what I do is when I take out the magnet.....i just slide the rubber piece off and stick it in my pocket.....haven't lost another since I started doing that...lol.

That makes sense LOL.. If I wasn't so darn thick headed I probably could have figured that out

What I can't figure out is how I am losing them. They must be getting caught on the brush and ripping off, but I don't have any problems with my Johnson Tracking collars doing that. Oh well... .

Thanks for the tip...

OV_BLUES

I do a couple of things. I put the shock collars on my lighted collars or thread the lighted collars through the regular collar.. Or on a couple of the lighted collars, I have nameplates. I just take their regular collars off. But I have nameplates on my tracking and shock collars too.

What color light did you try running on her? I tried one of my white Magnums on my 5 year old dog.. He acted like his depth perception was off, stumbling over rocks and brush. I put the blue one on him and he is fine.

lighted collars

i use the sunburst i have one that is 17 years old i have 2 red 1 orange and 1yellow i hate to turn a dog loose without one it is great for working pups and young dogs you can see what they are doing these were origanally made to help keep your dogs from getting hit on the road and since the year before i started running these collars i did get my wifes best friend hit on the road i will not hardle turn a dog loose without one have had some trouble with the orange one with it getting a lose wire on one side then the other but i live only about 1/2 hour from sunburst and they treat me great with working on my lights or the collars

Have both Saturns and Bright Eyes and like the Bright Eyes the best. The blue stands out the best...the white is brighter but just doesn't turn heads like the blue I guess cause there are so many other white lights around...houses and such. Are they gonna prevent everything from happening...No chance, but I feel much much better known that I've done bout all I could if something would happen.

My predictions is that someone will figure out the all in one collar: shocker, tracker, lighted, will paitent it and be a rich son-of -a-gun!

i have 3 magnums, one Foggy Top and a Marshall tracking collar with the light. i like the Marshall tracking collar with the light. it is by far the strongest collar that i have. it is at least 1/3 stronger than my Johson, Quick Track and a Lowrance in tracking distance and with the changeable batteries, a lot cheaper to use

LOL

Thanks for everyone's input! I think pros by far outweight the cons in having a lighted collar. So, by what I'm gathering, saturn and bright eyes are the way to go? As for the color, blue and white are the most noticable?

"YET ANOTHER"

I was givin a couple of cheap lighted flashing collar's by a guy this past summer.Although I never used any before I can tell you I'm sorta hooked on them. Then I found them in the local hardware store for $5. Not much to them, nylon collar with a yellow reflective band & the light bar within that.

They have the plastic coupler & slide size adjustment. I have used one every night since I got them even just lettin my house dawg model out to pee. I am way back in the brush off the road 3/4's & frequently a pee break turn's into a coon hunt down the lane. Kept the lil *** from potentially gettin run over a time or two.

These collars use one of them flat 2032 batterie's & i'm pleasantly surprised how long they last.

OK,some are thinkin"But I have to spend some scratch or it's no good" rite? If your like me & like to keep thing's simple & cheap, give'um a try.

Probably don't have the range of the other's but I can see them far 'nuff off for my likin's.

I have 6 of them & got around $35 dollar's in 'um!!
