micro chip

I had a micro chip put into my new pup. Can I put the micro chip number on the puppy papers before I send them in. There is a space by the breeders name who registered the litter. Is only the breeder of the litter suppose to put a microchip number down. I had the micro chip put in her after I picked the pup up.
