Prayers sent to Doug Robinson Family

Douglas G. Robinson
Age 68, of Warsaw ,NY passed away at home on November 14, 2020.

He was born March 14, 1952 in Warsaw, son of the late Harold and Pauline McElwain Robinson.

Doug was a graduate of Warsaw Central High School and SUNY Geneseo. He had a lifelong love of running and Cross-Country and along with his brother Brian, could be found running the hills, through Letchworth park or even home to Warsaw from the college in Geneseo. This was a passion he held through his life and passed on to his daughters Ginette and Kelsi and Grandson Tremer. He won several awards and medals, competing in local races and marathons. He was always singing, humming or listening to music, a love he passed on to his kids as well, especially his son Kyle.

As a native of Warsaw, Doug was well-known through his many jobs and friendships, including his work as a Manager at Ames, an insurance salesman, and eventually a job he really loved with the Wyoming County Health Department, after his retirement from a career at Kodak. All who met him were drawn to his smile and his love for conversation.

His soul was at home in the woods and was tied very closely to the Native American culture, art and music. He also belonged to NAKA (a Native American council). His favorite memories as a child were spending time in nature, especially with his grandfather naming trees and birds and flowers. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He grew up with horses and enjoyed trail riding, and had a vast knowledge of the outdoors and a green thumb for gardens. He was never without an award winning coonhound (or two) that he showed, winning awards and was acting Secretary for the Wyoming County Houndsmen Conservation Club. In his later years he amazed us all by finding a passion and superior craftsmanship in woodworking and crafts.

He was a committed and dedicated family man, a hard worker who was always willing to help others. He was extremely loving and very humble. He loved his Wife Nancy, his family, extended family, and all children. We called him the “Baby Whisperer” and no cheeks were safe from his kisses. He was the fun Dad and adventurous Brother and Uncle, taking the kids on hikes or 4 wheeler rides, overcoming their parents' fears with his smile and confidence. He was completely and thoroughly adored, and will be missed terribly by everyone that he touched.

Surviving are his wife of thirty-five years, Nancy LaJudice Robinson, whom he married on October 26, 1985; his children, Ginette (Glenn) Murray of Castile, Kelsi (Scott) Bridgeman of Buffalo, Kyle Robinson of Warsaw; his grandchildren, Tremer Nicoli, Daniel Murray and Cecelia Bridgeman; his siblings, Andy (Teresa) Perkins of Texas, Sally (Bill) Holley of Tennessee, Brian (Susan) Robinson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lisa Philipson of Clifton Springs; step brother, Larry (Judy) Dillon of Batavia; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Philip Robinson and Eric Robinson.

Friends may call Saturday, November 28 from 3 – 6 PM at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw where a private memorial service will follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the Wyoming County Houndsmen Conservation Club, 4380 Sage Rd., Warsaw, NY 14569. Due to covid-19 precautions the funeral home is limited to 33% capacity and face masks are required. Thank you for your cooperation.

Doug

I knew Doug for many years. He always had a good looking dog on the bench. I drew him out years ago also. The man never knew a stranger. I was surprised at his passing. I always enjoyed a conversation with him years ago at the hunts when I lived out that way. I hope he’s treeing a few and looking down with a smile...
