Navel Hernia, How long to wait???
Upon successful completion of a navel hernia procedure, how long do most folks wait before putting their dog back in the timber??
I'm thinking my dog will be laid up at least 3 weeks, but wondering what others have done who have been through this? (of course) this is my first time, LOL!!

Thanks Scott for your input. This is my first experience as well. I waited till the pup was a year old as I too, have seen them close up on their own most of the time. This particular hernia stayed about the size of a quarter and never closed, so I had the vet put a couple stitches in it. We go back this week to have the stitches removed and I will ask at that time how long to wait. Thought I would get the advice from actual hunters as I'm not sure how much experience this vet has with hunting dogs, but will heed his advice if nobody else weighs in.
Thanks again, and lets get some cooler weather on the way, LOL!!
