A Tip Of The Hat

A tip of the hat to the Chemung County Coonhunters Club in Vanetten, NY. --last night they sponsored a local group for the Spencer/Vanetten high school-- the school has a very active Sportsmens club of both boys and girls. The Coonclub had the group up to our club and explained what we do. we showed them most all of the breeds of coonhounds except the Leopard cur as no member has one yet. explained some about the breeds, showed each breed on a bench, showed them registration papers and pedigrees, talked a little about ticks and Lyme diseases and the symptoms to look for in dogs, also talked a little about Rabies, just to make them aware. then we took a break and served hotdogs and hamburgers as well as some potatoe salad and a soda or water, then we ran a demo field trail for them to see as well as some dogs treeing on an old coonhide., then generally just got to know some of the kids with visiting until it got almost dark. then those
young people who wanted we took a cast of dogs out to run a coon we were done by 10:30- 11:00 pm. I know the club members had a great time and from what I saw the young people did too. we gave each one an application for a FREE youth membership to the club, all they have to do is fill it out and get it back to the club.

Thanks again to the Spencer/Vanetten School Sportsmens club as well as to each member and anyone who donated their time or food and support to this event, we all need the youth in our sport

There should be alot more of this going on to get the youth back into this sport and to keep them out of trouble. Awesome job to all of you involved
