Lost ol’ RAT last night….over the years coon hunting and RAT has given me the pleasure of traveling and meeting people from all walks of life – some of which I still consider good friends, for that I will forever be in debt to him. I know there was/is a lot of ‘haters’ regarding his breeding (Rat Attack), but one thing that I still remember to this day….I had him in a hunt trying to put the last couple wins on him and when the hunt was over, a gentleman shook my hand after signing the scorecard and said ‘that is a Rat Attack dog that trees coon.’ Like any dog RAT was not perfect, no, far from it, but for all his faults the one thing nobody can ever take from him is the fact that he was a COONDOG – and that’s all I could ever ask for. Gone, but not forgotten in my mind – late at night when the wind is just right, I am sure I will hear him treed ‘deep with meat’ and you will probably here me softly say….‘Tree RAT’. Rest in peace my friend.
