1st you need a great place, where you know there is coons, and very few people to noone hunts that spot. Placement is key. I've had alot of luck with soured corn, either in a tire with water or in a bucket. It's cheap and coons can smell it from a long ways off. (Sour the corn before you put it out!!! Simply fill a 5 gallon bucket up with corn, and soak it in water for 3-7 days, depending on the temperature outside, trust me you will know when it's sour). Cheap Dog food works as well but it can get pricey, and it may attract some unwanted off game. Cheap dog food soaked in bacon grease, with Kool-Aid power can really get them interested.
If that don't get their attention (Which it should), you can find anything cheap with a STRONG sweet smell to it, for example: vanilla extract, bananna peels, peppermint candy, Kool-Aid, etc. Anything with a sweet strong smell should really get their attention. After I put my feeders out I like to wait around a week before I hunt them, as that will give the coons plenty of time to find it, and start to get comfortable.

Best of luck, hope that helped some!!
