Louisiana Law

Coonhunting nighttime only except during squirrel season. Which is the weekend of October to the end of February. Nighttime is considered from sunset to sunrise.

Not true.

No closed season. Racoon and opossum can be taken at night by one or more licensed hunters with one or more dogs and one .22 caliber or smaller rimfire firearm. A licensed hunter may take raccoon or opossum with a .22 caliber or smaller rimfire rifle, .36 caliber or smaller primitive firearm rifle or shotgun during daylight hours.

Straight out of Louisiana Hunting Regulations 2012-2013

And legal shooting hours for daytime hunting is one half hour before sunrise to one half hour after sunset. For most game except migratory birds.

daylight hunting

To kill them during daylight it must be during open squirrel season. Coon season is open year round. You are correct on that. It must be done at night when squirrel season is closed. I meant to reply to a thread about why the 1hour intervals ended at daylight.
