hoarse bark on a feist

I have a 7 year old feist that has been a really good hunting dog, but here in the past year his voice sounds hoarse and when he gets deeper than 180 yards I can barely hear him. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I've seen older dogs loose their voice as they get older.I have a friend that had a cur that was around 9 or 10 and she didn't have much bark at all.She was one good tree dog you just couldn't hear her if she got out very far.
