Question about free feeding
Got a question to see if someone else has run into this. I have a pregnant female, due to have pups in a couple weeks. Most every place I see recommends free feeding puppy food. I went Saturday and bought some diamond puppy food to start feeding her. Now I am real leary of free feeding this female; because she is the biggest chow hound I know of. She will eat as much as you put in front of her, and I am worried about her eating herself sick. But at the same time, I want to make sure she gets enough for the pups to grow well. I have more than doubled her food, but I don't know if it is enough. Has anyone ever had a simular situation. This is the first liter of pups for me, although she has had pups before. I would appreciate any help.
don't get her too fat or she might have trouble having pups. Let her run around a few minutes in the open if you have the room.
Free Feeding
We just had a litter of pups and 2 weeks before she was due we put her on puppy chow, we fed her three to four small feedings a day, she did great, now that the pups are here shes back to wanting to eat like a horse again, so i have stayed with the small feedings.
