Female dog in heat
Please dont think im completly dumb guys i have never had a female before. My dog is 13 months old and has been pacing around in her pen for two days know.It looks like she is swelled a little and there is some goop coming out but no blood. How soon before she is completly in heat how long will it last and is it going to make my males penned next to her bark all night long.
you might want to have her vet checked - swelling and discharge but no blood could mean a very serious uterine infection - they can go south very fast with a pyometria (sp?) which could lead to an emergency spay or death.

What color is the discharge
Richy, if her discharge is anything but clear you might want to go to the vet and have her examined. You should see her spotting blood almost at the bginning of her heat cycle but they are all a little different.
As far as the male dogs barking all night long........... try 3 weeks for the length of the heat cycle. The old rule of thumb was: 1 week coming in, 1 week standing and 1 week going out. That was the old school...... like I said before, they are all different.
Good Luck
