Need Help
I have pair of beagles that are a year old and really doing well. My male dog is a great track dog and once he gets scent under his nose its on the rest of the day. My problem with him is that until the first rabbit is up he just kinda waits around for the others to get the rabbit up. He will have heartly hunt around til the rabbit is up. The funny thing is sometimes the others are scrambling around trying to get one up and i guess he gets tired of waiting and just calmly walks right in and boom the race is on. I think I give him the wrong name. His name should have been Clint eastwood with the attitude he packs. What can I do to get this dog to get in there on the start of things?
Solo, take him without other dogs. If he wants to run he'll have to get at it. It's not as much fun but go out sit down and don't pet him or talk to him and eventually he'll start taking off. Once he does run him 3 time solo to 1 time with pack for another month or so. Hope all ends well.
Jack
