Thanks to the Hawkins County Coon Club

We would like to thank Ron Stroud and all the officers and members of the Hawkins County Coon Club for all their hard work in hosting the 2009 World Finals! I can't say enough about Ron's organization skills when it comes to putting on an event of this caliber. Thanks Ron. And to all the guides and judges throughout the weekend - thanks for the time you may have taken off work to lend your time to help us out.

On a down note; Unfortunately, Michael Willis, one of our judges Thursday, had an accident on the way home in the wee hours Friday morning. His vehicle went off the road and hit a tree. He was rushed to the hospital in nearby Kingsport. He suffered several broken ribs, a punctured liver and bruises everywhere. Michael called me last night to let me know he was back home and doing well. So, we're glad to hear that and hope he'll be back to normal soon.

I think some folks were surprised to see that all but one cast saw coons last weekend. The one cast in question; I still haven't found out exactly what happened or why their scorecard was not returned. ?? Nor, can I say that they did not see any coons for that matter. Out of the 26 casts that went out in the first round we had 24 Cast Winners with plus points advance to Round 2. (Alone Round) Of those 24 that went back out - 22 came back with plus points! Obviously, would have liked to see all of them come back and advance but even that happens in Indiana, Ohio or Illinois. Someone mentioned to me on Thursday that I would see maybe 10 casts come back with plus points. Thank goodness that was not the case at all.

Overall, the Finals were a huge success and we all enjoyed our weekend in Rogersville. Again, we owe the Host Club a huge thanks for their part in the success of it. Thank you all!

In addition; we extend a hand to our newest World Champions; Russell Bellar, Randall Meyers, Bryan Whitted and Big De. Well done!

Allen: Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to hold this event. I think that everything went well. I read all the negative comments about the selection of Rogersville long before the finals came but we thought we would wait and let the results speak for themselves. I have never had the opportunity to attend any other final for the world hunt but I don't think it could go any smoother. Every cast but one the first round came back with plus points. I talked to the judge and guide of the cast that did not make it back and he said they din not do any good. That suprises me because he is one of the people who has an abundance of coons. We could not have done this without the help of the members of other clubs in the area who judged and guided for us. Once again thank you for the opportunity to hold this event. I sent you an article that was ran in the local paper this Wednesday. It was nice seeing you and Todd once more and nice meeting Tanya and Wayne. If we can ever do anything else for you don't hesitate to ask. By the way I talked with Michael last night' he is still very sore but he is healing up. It meant a lot to him for you to take the time to go to the hospital to see him Saturday.
What does everyone think about these pop-up Feeder bucket coons now.
