Probably a stupid question..
..but I'm really new to the whole UKC thing and I have absolutely no background at all in how dog shows work.
I want to register my dog for LP membership in the UKC. I noticed that most dogs registered seem to have these really long names and my dog's name is just Bailey. If I put down Bailey for the name, would my application just be laughed at.. or even rejected?
Why do UKC dogs have names like this? At first, I thought it was to prevent an abundance of the same name in the registry, but surely the UKC recognizes that this is bound to happen?
Thanks for putting up with my novice.. I look forward to a response.. it's been bugging me, lol.
Hi,
One of mine is named Bailey, too!
I think what you are seeing is a kennel name, then the dog's "actual" name. My Bailey is Tarascon Bailey. Her mother was Falling Branch Ella and her father Ka Cee Boon. Not really long names there.
Nobody is going to laugh at your dog's name. Don't worry. If you want, you can add something to Bailey's name. Your last name, or make up a kennel name for yourself, or the town where Bailey came from or something like that.
