Question on hunting judges authority...

I was in a competition hunt once and it was a 4 dog cast. All of the dogs were treed and we were all walking to the tree in single file. As we got close to the tree a disturbance happened at the tree and EVERY dog on the tree stopped barking. In a matter of seconds (less than 5) all dogs were back on the tree. It was so quick that only the judge (at least he claimed) could see what happened. After scoring the tree we walked back to the truck and the judge informed us that he would be scratching the "walker dogs" for fighting (there was also a redbone and the judge was handling a bluetick). I owned one of the walkers and had NEVER seen her fight and didn't on this occasion; the other walker owner claimed the same. I went to my truck where I had the rule book and I'm thinking that the rules stated that this was entirely left to the judges discretion and that I could not question the call.

Anyway, I'm wanting to go to a hunt next weekend so I just read the 2008 rules. I haven't been to a hunt in a few years so my memory may just be off, but it doesn't seem that the wording is there in the way that I remembered. Can someone tell me if I had the right to question the call or bring it to a vote. The owner of the redbone in the cast suggested to the judge that he allow us to withdraw because the 2 dogs had not shown any aggressive behavior on a previous tree and he had not witnessed the fight either. The judge agreed and told us that we could either withdraw or be scratched (which I know is against the rules). Can someone clear this up for me? What should I (or could I) have done? Has there been a change in the wording?

Question a decision.

You have the right to question any decision made by a hunting judge. You should have questioned the call, voted on it, and went back to the MOH, if necessary, to try and solve the issue. This is one of the oldest tricks in the book to eliminate a dog who is kicking your butt. Now with that being said the MOH probably isn't going to reverse a decision made by the judge but even if he don't you can continue your appeal up to the UKC. REMEMBER THAT THERE IS A PROCEDURE THAT MUST BE FOLLOWED OR YOU ARE BEATING A DEAD HORSE. Aint' that right Allen?

1. Question the call.
2. The judge waited to long to scratch should have been done at the tree not wait until you are back at the truck i would have questioned that for sure he cannot delay a call until he see's fit.
