squirrel hunters in SW Michigan
With the Michigan Squirrel hunters Assoc. having their first UKC hunt in Stanton next weekend, brings to mind a question. where are the squirrel hunters located in Michigan? I mean Sq hunting with a dog. I bring this question as I wonder, is their enough guys and gals to be able to have any hunts in this area (Allegan State Game area is fantastic squirrel hunting). How about it guys, do you know anyone from Grand Rapids, south to around Kalamazoo and west to the Lake?

We have members all over Michigan and we try to have our buddy hunts in different parts of the state to accomodate everyone. Each member has to decide how far he wants to drive to enter our hunts. I enjoy these hunts very much. The only one I did not attend is the one we had in Glennie as it was farther than I wanted to drive. Our first UKC hunt is in Stanton. We are fortunate enough to be able to use the CMSC for our meeting place and it is, pretty much, centrally located. The date is Dec.15 and the deadline for the hunt is 8:00 AM. We are having a licensed bench show and a treeing contest. We will also have a bench show for the kids. We will have some good places for the casts to go so come out and spend the day with us. Bring the kids so they can try to win a prize showing a dog on the bench.
Thanks!
Thanks Northeshore. I do plan on attending Saturday, unless we are having a blizzard. Stanton is about a 2 hour drive from Gobles, but I will get on the road early. I am very excited about spectating on a cast, with special interest in Feist dogs, but whatever will get the job done will be good!
My question stems around finding guys in my area that squirrel hunt with dogs. I know they must be out there, but its sure hard to find 'em. My point is, if there are a bunch of us in an area, we can team together to hold hunts, buddy hunts or registered comp. hunts.
Thanks guys, lets here from you - or if you know someone in this area, let me know.
