info on squirrel huntin w/dogs
i am an avid coon and rabbit hunter and love to hunt with dogs, i am interested in trying to squirrel huntin with dogs, but i don't really know how to train a dog to tree squirrel or what breed of dog to use. any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Squirrel Hunting With Dogs.
To start you need to look into the different breeders of Feist & Curs and see if they have the type of dog you would be interested in and there are several. I like the Feist breed and the L.H. & Curt Blackmouth Cur. There are also Mt Cur out there to that may satisfy you. In the Feist I would recomend either Jack Buckley 606 785 0770 in Kentucky or Mack Ledbetter 256 748 2871 in Alabama and the L.H. & Curt Ladner Blackmouth Cur call L.H. Ladner 601 796 2150 in Mississippi.

There is a great book out there called:
"Squirrel Dog Basics. A guide to hunting squirrels with dogs"
by David A. Osborn
This is a really good book full of very useful info about ALL the squirrel dog breeds; curs, feists, and even hound. It also has a lot of good traing info; things to do and not to do. It's worth the money, in my opinion.
Good Luck
