on another post this guy is claim he can traces his
dogs back to lester naces dogs and mundo is
one of the dogs listed but he didnt tell how
he got him back that far maybe i will go ask

My "Mundar Rick" goes back to Mundo on the 4th generation.

Doesn't have to be

A SHOW DOG LINE TO MAKE A GOOD LOOKING HOUND. My opinion is the hunting dogs have far better correct hounds then show dogs.

Heck back then we didn't have a "show line" or a "hunting line". We still had "the dual-purpose line" one dog for both purposes!

That doesn't mean you have to be a "competition hunter" but there are a lot of "show lines" that WILL NOT bark at a caged coon! But they can run the hide off deer! But then we have some hunting dogs that aren't very pretty either. Where and when did we stop producing a good looking, correct, hunting prospect?

I have the old mundar line in my kennel. The picture below are my 5 month old pups that are Rock River Gap top (hunting stock) - taking back to the ol Merchants Bawling Barney line - who may I add was a dual grand. To the old Spring Creek Rock, another dual grand. Now Gap's more recent generations are all just hunting titles: Skean's Dolly, Babes Stylish Banjo, Schmersal's Stylish Queen and Rose, even house's Tom Tom all just finished to just hunting titles. Also wondered why? These were nice looking hounds. Was it the influx of "show lines"?

The bottom is Mundar breeding heavy. With a little bit of Harry, Spring Creek Rock, and House lines. I got some very nice show prospects that are hunt aggressive. If I have to throw in the towel and become a competition hunter to finish them, them I will!

So where did it his good looks come from? A very thought-out study of lines and then cross your fingers and hope it works! That's all any of us do when we breed sire to dam! Wish for the best!

I don't know. My husband hunts w/ an old fella that knows the Mundo dogs and had dogs direct by him. I need to pick his brain one day. We have an old male from this fella, he is near 8 yrs old, I only have a 3 gen ped on him. It is mostly dogs that he pleasure hunted and bred up himself thru the years. He used the Mundo and SC Rock lines back then. This dog is sure nuff a coon dog. He use to look much better, but has grown old and has been hunted hard.

Here is his ped. Does anyone know what these dogs went back to? When we send off the papers, we are gonna order a big ped on him. Dave says he goes back to a lot of Mundo.

Well, Mundo was born in 1969. So most that are on here weren't even born then. I was born 1967 and didn't get involved w/ coonhounds till the early 90's.
Maybe that's one reason why.

Gold Creek Mondo. I had one out of him and remembering being advertised like it was last month. The one I had was a Wild Wild hunting dog. He was TOO Much of a hunter for a 12 or 14 year old boy, but he was a tree dog and you would find him under a coon.

This is my females top side. Bought her for $100.00 from a man who bred to Slammer. Slammer was owned by Kenny Field's a personal friend. He loved the Mundo line. One of the best dogs I have ever owned and she is still treeing coon. She just turned 11 years old on 7/10.
