possom

They eat better if you leave the hide on them it holds all the good flavor in.

Now tar don't talk bad about how a possum taste, if my father were alive he'd be 105, he told me when he was young his father bought a bluetick possum dog. They would tree them, shake them out, catch them and take them home. They would keep them penned and fed them cornbread and buttermilk then eat them. I've never ate any, but he swore if you baked them with sweet potato's they were good. They didn't buy a coon dog it was strictly a possum dog.

Thought I was the only one who had heard this but I guess not...my grandpa use to say the exact same thing...catch them, fatten em up and eat them...when I was 13 me and my little brother shot one on a squirrel hunting trip with our dad...rule I was raised on down here in north georgia was if you kill it you eat it...long story short my dad skint it and fried it and made me and my brother eat it,not all of it but enough to teach us a lesson....it was terrible, same greasy nasty taste as poorly cooked bear...

Yadkintar, I knew you would find a way to use a possum to your advantage.

I had someone from work e-mail me a Possum Advocacy poster. Immediately, I thought of yadkintar.

I tried to download to photobucket so I could post it here, but it will not down load.

.

Over 45 years ago in one of my first hunts. My dog and the rest of the cast treed a possum. I was happy my pup was hunting and treed something. So for one moment in time, i was at peace with a possum.

Boy the leaves are defenetly out can't get far enough away from the trees to see the top because of the underbrush could have been 10 possums up those trees and I could not find them lol.

Your dog may be putting to much pressure and making them clmb to high.

You would have been proud of mine last night Tar, he split with a possum. He was treed 10 yards from a dog with a coon and held the pressure!

I know you well enough if he wasent a cut above the rest he would not be at your house. This bone pup of Ralph's gets me excited and I ain't been excited about a dog in a long time he just naturly at 9 months old dogs get bogged down take a track away and tree it.

Posted by joey on 05-06-2017 08:49 PM:

He made 4 split trees and looked at all 4 before the wheels fell off! He had the possum to so I guess he was 5 for 5

I guess I am a possum jinx guided a cast for a local club last night they treed two possums 0 coons and seen two possums setting up maybe we need to start joking about coons reverse psychology lol.

I would appreciate it if you would, two NtCh cast lastnite, had a female in cast 1, treed one rite out gate other cast had 450+ then caught one on the ground so it's official I Hate Them All, no more dodging them on the road i will cross the ditch, the yellow or white line and may turn around just to hit him going the other way!
