Ive had it bbq'd. its cleaned, fat removed, put in pressure cooker just like any other meat until tender and then sauced. it was actually very good.

Yes, coon is good prepared correctly. In addition to removing as much fat as possible, make sure you remove the glands that are between the skin and meat. They are about the size of a kernel of corn.
If prepared correctly, it will taste just like beef pot roast. It even has the same texture. I bbq it too.

everything is good fried
We fry it when we can get one before the dogs tear it to hell...
Use a fry daddy or some kinda deep fryer or even like fried chicken....just get u some flour or corn meal use a little garlic salt pepper and anything else ud fry chicken with....roll it eggs flour it and fry till done....make ya a side of fryed taters and some aspargus or any veggy and u talking about a meal
....make sure u clean it very good them glands will ruin it for u fast or do it inna stew that's good too.
Hope u enjoy it we do in my parts

Good question lol. , well there's no hogs in my area and I've ate all the bear meat I wanted this week lol so I mean it's different and we want to try it . Last year we killed well over 60 coons to my old red dog and I got to thinkin maybe we could eat some or someone would want them . Hate to see 60+ coons just left .

I love coon and we have cooked them several different ways. I don't shoot coon out unless I plan to eat it or know someone who wants them. Killing coon for kicks is not good. I used to sell the hides but then prices fell out in the late 80's. I seen guys shoot them and leave em laying or let them go to the bad. that to me just aint right.

I know it sounds like we was doing a bad thing but we had to we hunted on 3 or 4 thousand acer farms and they had to go . Like he wanted all killed that was the agreement you tree it you kill it due to them eating his crops .

I personally don't eat them but I have a fella that will take as many as I can kill her offered to give me $2-4 dollars but I couldn't charge the man knowing I would be throwing the carcass out. also had a coyote hunter said he would take the carcass to use in his bait piles to hunt yotes over.

fix'n coon
You have to boil about four times to get the grease out. Hash it up and add one onion along with a tsp of sage. Bake at 375 degrees for about an hour. Fix steamed cabbage along with corn critters.

If you are killing anything for any reason other than to eat or to protect a crop or some other similar situation, you don't need to be hunting. Killing is not a sport and should be done with thought each time you pull the trigger to take any animals life.
Coon is delicious, as long as you get all of the glands put. I usually bake them in an aluminum pan with a variety of of marinades like dale's or allegro. Throw a little seasoning of choice on there and bake at 325 for a few hours. Doesn't take much to make them eatible.

Take 2 coon. GET ALL THE KERNELS CUT OFF. Scrape the fat off. Boil until almost tender. Bake in oven at 375 degrees surrounded by sweet taters. Serve while hot.

I might try it if there is ever a shortage of hogs, hell you can eat everything from "the rooter to the tooter" on a pig. So why eat a nasty old coon.
