Move strike points up
I know this might confuse some but when a dog split trees thats treed in for fourth and say is 50 yards deeper in you move him up to first tree. So say only if they have a coon why not move there strike to first as well, you know there on a different track. I'm only saying in a case where say three dogs are treed on one tree and the fourth dog is split and both trees have coons. Because if one tree were to be circle or slick it could simply there wasn't but one track and the other dog(s) goofed up. Its probally to complicated to fix but its a bummer when your struck in for fourth and your dog split trees its own coon and has to take last strike. I think this would help out on your babbling dogs too.
It wouldn't help out on anything but it would be a judging nightmare which is something we already have enough of.

could be same track other dogs just treed wrong empty im sure that is the postion ukc will take
IF I had an independent, still mouth dog I would love it if they could move up on track! I did say IF didn't I, cause I don't

IF MUTIPLE COONS ARE TRAVELING TOGETHER(MATING PAIR, SOW WITH KITTENS), THAT IS ONE TRACK EVEN IF THEY CLIMB DIFFERENT TREES IN CLOSE PROXIMITY!!!
I guess
It would be tough and hard to judge because I can done tell by the replies most are already confuse in what I was trying to say. Please disregard, lol.
I'll take first tree with a coon everytime over worrying about my strike pts. That 125 is what makes ukc rules the best.
strike
make all strike equal. count the trees with coons!!!! sux hunting with babbling idiots!! make the hunt more about treeing coons
I get first strike 90% of the time anyway with this no good babbling coon treeing mutt.
exactly what i said!!!!

Because you still need to reward the dog that got in there and got struck on a coon first. Your dog may have struck another coon but it was beaten to a track by a better, quicker dog.

because dogs take off barking and never shut up and then back the dog that trees a coon . they dont deserve crap
Theres alot
of big titles that have been won by dogs in all three registeries
that simply were babblers. Not saying they wasn't dang good coon dogs but none the less stoled some history from a honest strike dog. Don't get me wrong, I want hunt nothing in the hunts if it isn't a very quick strike dog, no babblers but want one when it smells a coon in the air to open. I know a lot of your stone cold silent dogs would benefit but remember, the only way that would move strike points up if its a split tree situation and both trees have coons and are plussed. This way it doesn't benefit a still mouth dog or a babbling dog. Kinda levels the playing field. But its just a ideal, I know theres a lot of loop holes in it and probally overall needs left as is but kinda would be interesting. Very few times when you have split trees do all dogs have a coon on the outside, so for the most part you would have many strike points moving up.
Im all for trying to fix the babblers but I dont want anything that is going to screw the honest strike dogs.I think the dogs are to independent these days too. Some guys want there dog by themselves all the time.I like mine to share a few points and get off by themselves a couple times in a 2 hour hunt. Some dogs these days are hard to train because they wont go with each other.Ive got a nite ch dog right now that is by herself 75% of the time.Thats a real honest percentage.

If a dog trees in last, 50 yards deeper, then there is a bigger problem in the rules than him getting 25 strike points. The bigger problem is he treed LAST and got 125.
Before I would change the rules to give him 1st strike points, I'd change the rules to give him 4th tree, UNLESS the dogs treed before him don't get plus, then I would move him up.
This whole game is supposed to be about treeing coons quickly and efficiently. The dog that trees last isn't as good at doing it as good, even if he is on a separate tree.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a dog that gets split. Any real coondog should get split at some point. But they should be doing it for the right reason. That reason should be because its the first coon in those woods to tree. A good dog should prove they have the speed and ability to tree that coon BEFORE other dogs.

I LIKE A DOG THAT FINISHES THE TRACK WITH A COON. I SAY LET'S CHANGE IT TO WHERE A DOG WHO TREES SLICK GETS SCRATCHED. LIKE YOU SAID, IT'S ALL ABOUT TREEING COONS.
SEE YOU AT THE NEXT TREE.

tree dog
ive never seen a real good tree dog that never misses if he is 100 percent he isint for because he is probably slow an missing layups ect. as for babblers i have a dog that opens at the slightest wiff of coon and every body wines about it. thats what they call a score card dog. ther no diff from all the still mouth dogs i see now might let out one wimper when they step on a thorn
When someone says lets scratch a dog that slick trees, I question how much they actually hunt. Show me a man who says he has a 100% accurate dog and ill show you a liar.
The rules that are in place work just fine if you use them. Minus a dog thats babbling ... its really not that hard to do. Minus him, if he doesnt like it, vote on it. All these posts about babblers and slick treers etc... make me wonder what yall have on the end of your lead straps to havr to chsnge the rules to beat em. Thats not directed at the thread starter either... its the posts afterwards.
All these people complaining about slick treers blah blah blah should be happy when they draw onem. If your packing a coondog its one less dog to worry about. If you think people are breeding slick treers then breed some who dont. Change has to start somewhere.
I'm with you on moving up the strike points.Giving a dog last tree points just because he treed last on a split tree is just plain stupid and just won't work and I will tell you why.Last week my young dog got treed, right before The 10 minutes wAs up 2 other dogs got treed. The other 2 guys were yelling cut your dog loose After the 10 so I did and they were hoping he would go in there and back them so I would receive minus if a coon was seen.Well he struck in 25 and got treed but he was split and had the meat and I won the hunt.In this case he would had treed last being cut into to the dogs that were already treed but the 5 wasn't up and he got treed after the 5 was dead. Why should I just recieve 25 points for my strike and tree when he struck and treed his own coon and didn't break his neck to back them up.I don't care if they were 3 to 50 coons together and they scattered.A dog that splits from other dogs is on a different track and if it weren't how in the heck did it get up that tree my dog is treeing on.So if you can move the tree up why not the strike. It might give an honest dog a chance to win thanks to automatic strike dogs.
