Just some numbers......

Comparing Walker Days 2011 to 2012.
Total in 2011 was 460
Total in 2012 was 445, down about 3%.
Thursdays total was up this year by 8 dogs, 100 in 2011, 108 this year.
The Pup hunt was down by 5 this year, 47 to 52 in '12.
The Invitational was up by 13, 61 to 48 in '12.

The Walker Days Pup Hunt is my favorite event every year even though we didn't have one ready for this years hunt. It is the one event I train for every year.
I'm really surprised it doesn't draw more pups. When you consider all the coonhunters and breeders out there raising litters every year, you would think every single one of them would be trying to win this one event. The owner of the sire for the winning pup is Breeder Of The Year and all the advertising and dog talk in the world shouldn't be worth as much as winning your chosen breeds annual Pup Hunt. Most of the Breed Associations today host one of these Pup Hunts and I would hope all of them grow every year. They certainly should.

How do you get to hunt and whats it cost to be able to hunt in the TW breeders pup hunt? Believe it or not lots of hunters dont know this.

And this is a Thurdsay night hunt. Most people have to work.

Interesting numbers....

Myself and a buddy are planning to be at the pup hunt next year..if we make the cut off...pups born 04/19/2011...so they will either just make it or just miss it...gotta look and see how it falls.....also gotta see what life brings and if the dogs keeps progressing and are ready...they could both enter hunts and do some winning in the registered class right now...

Also taking their dam to sectionals to try to get her there next year...

Not getting my hopes up..fair chance i wont make it due to LIFE...but gunna try like heck to make it! Ive never hunted anything bigger than an RQE....though the RQEs ive hunted draw as many or more dogs than the pup hunt...

Actually the Sam pup out of Wipe um up Sam won the final cast if you go by best score, but it was least amount of minus points, and UKC doesn't credit that.

I know that and that's a good score and cast win. I'm won't argue that. But in the final cast the Moon pup minused out in about 42 minutes. I think in a hunt off the best score should win over a dog that minuses out. What does everyone else think about that?

the rules was to reflect back to the first scores and a scatch dog was coukdnt place. now wat r they doing makeing RULES AS THEY GO. ? THE RULES WERE MADE BFORE THE HUNT SO THAT WAT THEY SHOULD GO BY....... WAKE UP PEOPLE...........

The payout is based on entries. I don't know what it paid this year. When our dog won it a few years back it paid $720.00 to win with the entry about the same as this year so I'm guessing the winner got around that amount.
It isn't PKC level and isn't meant to be. On the other hand, it pays for the weekend and then some.

yes revert back to first round score to place is the way it was said that how the dogs would place if no winner so there for only two dogs finish the cast then. the moon dog minus out that a scratched to i like how people got on here running my dog in the dirt about getting scratch for fighting when it never happen the judge said he face barked and scratched me. they reverted back to scores and i won then they going to take it from me well i dont see it being fair if i cant win for get scratched then the moon dog cant win for minusing out. congrats to who ever wins it
