Dog Barking In The Box
I have a friend that has a female that barks every breath in the box. Any suggestions on how to break this? I will tell you what we have tried already. Shocking system, putting the leash through the vent and throwing her head into the box. We have tried tying her outside the box and switching her countless times. It has almost gotten to be in-humane how much abuse we have given her but she still barks every breath in the box. As soon as she gets in she for some reason thinks she has to be barking. Any suggestions?
Buy yourself a Dogtra bark collar and put it on 7 and drive around. If the dog cannot stop barking in the box after that you will likely either have to live with it or get the dog to someone that can. The dogs here will generally throw a few barks as soon as we hit a dirt or gravel road. Other than that, its quiet. If you tried what you tried and the dog hasn't stopped, that dog be dumb...

barking
I will load mine in the box when I am going on a road trip if what I am doing will allow you would be surprised it normally only takes a couple of trips in the box for a couple hours at a time and do it day and night if that doesn't work good luck and either get used to it or get rid of it.

He has rode her during the day for hours and during the night. She never missee a beat either! My biggest concern is her getting wore out before entering her in a hunt a long ways away. She is without a doubt the hardest dog to handle I have ever seen. Do they make dog ridlin?
I suggested to him a dog muzzle? That was his next option. Would it work? Anyone else tried a dog muzzle?

She is completly immune to any kind of shocking device. She acts almost as if she doesn't feel pain.
ever try an open wire cage/kennel..maybe if she can see might help..

She's definatly coming along nice but she is such a headache. It doesn't help that she has a horn either. We tried tying her outside of the dog box between the box and the tailgate. Didn't help a bit. I also got me a switch and sat back there beside her switching her right on the head. Didn't help a bit. I guess the muzzle may be the last option.
Maybe call Clark W. Griswald. He had a solution.

Have you tried...
one of those electronic "no Bark" things that you just hang onthe kennel/box? Instead of shocking the dog it makes an ultrasonic noise instead. We got one for the kennel and it worked there on a couple of obnoxious barkers. you can get them at Wal-Mart for $10 and the cost of a 9volt battery

Thanks I will look into that.
I can`t believe a dog can bark through a Trashbreaker set on 6! Never seen a dog that could stay on their feet when the button was pushed. Barking in the box is one of my biggest pet peeves, I`ve seen a few that would do it and all could be broke with the trashbreaker. If I couldn`t it would be gone, I just couldn`t stand to listen to it while driving down the road.

Pete, I have yet to see a dog with the determination that this dog has. Her mind is set on barking and that's what she does. It ain't my dog or it would be gone!

Sounds like she's kin to my female. The ONLY reason I put up with it is cause she's a good coon dog, and no I haven't found anything to stop it............................

Absolutly nothing that cant be fixed with duct tape, about two wraps around the muzzle when you load her. Problem solved.

since you've tried about all the negative stuff, i would try the duct tape. maybe wrap a piece of cloth around first, to keep the tape from sticking to its hair, and then wrap the tape around. that has to work.
my cur barks all the time she's in the box. i've never tried to break her. it drives my friend crazy but since we don't hunt together he can just get over it. it's my way of telling my neighbors that i'm going hunting again and they're not.

If the dog acts like it isn't getting the elec. it probubly isn't. Put a shock collar tight right behind the ears, turn the control to high and constant, use a good dogtra or tritronics then light it up and hold the button down till it squeels. Some dogs have an oily coat on there skin you have to burn threw. Once they get it they will get it every time though. If it is a good hot collar and you are getting good contact it won't be able to ignor it. It will take a while of driveing around getting it out of the habbit for as long as it has gotten away with it though.
I have seen several dogs that you had to burn threw before they got the shock. I would set on the tail gate and let the other dogs go. Then shock it till it stops then praise it for stoping. Never let it out of that box till it is shut up.
