Get involved & attend these meeting's if you care in the slightest about "OUR" sport.

By not givin a rat's hiney you are sayin "Whatever happen's happen's" ???

Corky has devoted a lot of his time keeping us up to speed on issue's pertaining to "OUR" beloved hounds & I think the least we can do is cowboy up & let our voice's & number's be heard or seen,

"DON'T YOU"?

Corky,

Good luck with your resolutions. FYI, there are already studies that show there are no negative effects of training on wildlife. If you would like, I could forward you copies if ya give me a little time.

Larry

I have a copy of the study about effects on deer, with a side on Turkeys. I've been working on this for the past 3 years. The DNR had one of their people do a search for info about a study and the only thing they came up with is the one about deer, and a study about cows that affect nesting birds.

I spent days searching the web and can only find things that say
"it's an opinion or it is believed that dogs have an affect"
If you can find something I'd like to see it, so far no one from DNR or the university can find a study.

The point here is; we are being shut out of the woods without any Science to prove a problem. I have had meetings about this and they say It's thier "Opinion" that dogs cause problems.

I have the support of some DNR folks for the study, but they don't have the $$$ in the budget. That needs to come from the top, or from private money. Is there a coon club that wants to donate the $40,000 to $80,000 it will take? they spend Millions every year for deer research but not a dime for hunting with dogs.

If we don't do something soon, it won't be a problem!!!! The HSUS WILL HAVE A FREE RIDE TO SHUT US OUT OF THE WOODS with out a fight. The whole game is who has the "Science" to prove their point.

Did you see the Mississippi Studies? If you haven't tried it yet try to use Goggle Scholar.

I could also e-mail you an electronic copy of a paper I presented to our DNR regarding this issue. It has the all the citations that I used.

Corky, e-mail me at larrywa@umflint.edu and I will send you a copy of my paper Scientific and Economic Justification to Allow Training of Coon Hounds on Private Land with Permission During April 15th through July 15th

Corky,

I sent ya an email. Use the attached paper as you see fit. It should supply you with enough scientific information to debunk the notion that running hounds disturbs wildlife.

Good luck.

Me and another guy went not to many people there. Shame more people don't show up for these hearings unless it is about the almighty deer.

just back from meeting--washington county

reading the crowd i'd say both resolutions passed strongly

I'd say the bear bill questions passed 2 of the 5

support for no "B" tag for those under 16 and the free weekend both passed

Corky
I think the resolutions went well in Sheboygan co. You know me cant shut up. Pushed hard for the coon hound issues spoke in favor for the free weekend and the under 16 class B . Ed probably wished I had'nt fired up the senior citzens though. (HA,HA)One older gentleman went completely over the edge when he found out kids had to pay to go along bear hunting thought the cops were gonna get called.

I wasn't able to make it to the portage county one but i talked to someone who did. He said that the entire room was filled with college kid and tree huggin hippies. He also said he was very disapointed when most of the college kids had their ballots filled out and handed in before anyone started speeking. He talked about both issues and explaned them to the room and he thinks most were for it by the time it was all done.
